Anyday Massacre My only suggestion would be put a leveling system in the game, and make it somewhat hard to level. Then make available an option to do a "hardcore death match" where if your character dies, it is deleted (like in Diablo II, but not on all the time just when you want to). All trash talk can be settled there. Winner gets the kill posted on web site or something in game. Either way good luck - you have your work cut out for you. If you haven't chosen an engine, I suggest Havok or Unreal. Both are cutting edge and have dev kits that allow you to make stuff to mess around with before you get full source code. I guess it depends on which one you find easier to develop for, and which one will have the cheaper licensing fee when you decide to publish. You should look that up before you decide to go ahead with it, unless this is just a thought experiment - nothing worse than putting in a whole lot of work only to find out it would be $250,000 cheaper to use a different engine... http://www.unrealengine.com/licensing http://www.havok.com/sales Of course, there are a lot of really inexpensive things out there too that can make a very respectable game if that is all you are going for. Or if you are super clever, write your own (I am not that clever).

Ty for the advice/suggestions guys really appreciate it, was expecting to get purely troll posts... Like dadale but you guys(primarily toon so far) have given my friends and I some ideas and to answer to what engine we will use, it will be likely be JMonkey unless anyone has a better engine which use java since java is what we know best ATM (plan to learn ALOT more languages during university) and to Chron(joker) I will be SURE to do that xP.
How about a MechWarrior 2-4 style game? The short version; giant walking tanks fighting each other. The long version; It hasn't been done well in a while There are lots of previous examples to get ideas from It is already balanced, saving you LOTS of time (if you use Solaris rules...) There are built in mechanisms for leveling and such Previous examples are old enough they would probably run in JMonkey pretty well If you want more info on the world, or how I would set it up, PM me.

It's hard for me to envision what you're creating, even with the details. PC only? What are the weapon mechanics? Hitscan weapons? Projectile based weapons? If there is any sort of console version, what degree of crutches will you be adding to... aim assist auto aim bullet "slipperyness" bullet magnetism any uncontrollable mechanics? bloom flinch kick spread None of those really apply on PC, so if it's PC only, I don't have much to contribute from from an objective standpoint. If this is a console port, and is supposed to be competitive, I would like to contribute from a objective standpoint, or point you towards someone who has way more experience than me. If this is a casual game, then there's not a lot I can offer you.
