What the hells up with it? don't even upgrade or nothng, just reg grapple and is more likely then not to ring you out. i was just in a game were this... well i'll moderate my language a bit, but this (Insert Profane Expletive) tank on the other team kept doing the same thing over and over again, aside from camping our spawn and frying anyone that walked out, EVERY SINGLE TIME i managed to grapple him, which was about 2/5ths of the time i attempted a grapple, as SOON as the grapple was over, before i could smoke bomb or lunge or back up, i get grappled by him and flung FAR away, most of the time resulting in a ringout. and SOMEHOW the tank, believe his GT was Someass i've seen him around on the forums, seemed to know instantly exactly where i was at the beginning of the game on Ammomule, i ran right for the inside of the dome, while cloaked, and stood still waiting for someone to run through. nope, he just walks out of his spawn, and walks in the dome with his jet gun pointing right at me and almost frying me to death before i was able to escape. Anyways, i went off on a Tangent. as i was saying, what is up with that BS grapple? it's practically a snipers lvl 2 red grapple.
I'm guessing his grapple is powerful because it's weapon specific, its the only one he has, and he's incredibly slow. He can't whip it out all the time like most of the other classes and he has to have his railgun, an unfavored weapon for CQC compared to the jet gun, out to do it.
Hi! As I was doing it, I was thinking there might be a thread about it later. Anyways, glad I could brighten your day! But seriously, you wouldn't have been able to kill me anyway. I was a tank, you were an assassin. If I didn't grapple you, I would have just charged/death blossomed you. At least I let you live for the time you flew through the air.
lol who uses the grapple when they can tank charge kill u without the dumb animation to die during? also assassins if u hear their cloak are in range to be seen and i find it pretty easy to notice them standing somewhere
Tank is the only class that can shrug off an assassin grapple like that. Most classes will avoid getting close to one in general, so it's probably more rare for a tank to grapple then any other class. Most of the time it's dead to jet engine before being in grapple range.
If you are assassin, do not go anywhere near tanks. The only way to kill a tank as an assassin is to do a charge attack into a back grapple. Anything else will result in your death, especially a front grapple. Tank is scissors and you are paper.
Excuse me, you had exactly two deaths that game, and both were from me. and i'm generally good at killing tanks as an assassin, i can usually jump out of the way of their retaliatory charge unless theirs lag, i just hate how if you back grapple an enemy, they can A.) switch weapons and B.) are facing you right away not even stunned in the slightest from the 3 feet of metal that just pierced their face. and i still think it's crazy that tanks have a throw back grapple thats not an upgradeable skill.
Tanks grapple is pretty much only used in one case for me: when I don't have charge 3 and somone just juiced. Hop about, land next to them and send them reeling. General rule: Keep the hell away from a tank as an assassin unless he is under heavy fire. In that case grab away as your teamates will generally fire into him while you do so. If you don't manage it expect to be charged and die isntantly. Really now, its your own fault for going after the tank isn't it?
Wonderful logic! i'll just go after this gunner then... Slam! oh well my fault for going after gunner. I'll go after support then... Firebase! oh well my fault for going after support. I'll just go after this sniper then... Traps! round of golf! oh well my fault for going after Sniper. I'll just go after assault then... Bomb! Charge! Ring out! oh well my fault for going after Assault. nope using that logic i shouldn't go after anyone, because every class has a counter to assassins and before you say "oh, your just a bad assassin if you can't back grapple" First of all, i have almost 1k grapple kills, 800+ Sword/dagger kills, and 100+ Shuriken kills, second of all do you know how hard it is to grapple in a laggy game? not to mention the loud noise cloaking makes and how the effectiveness of the cloak drops dramatically when you're oh, idk... getting within sword/grapple range? not to mention how slow shurikens are, you can fire a whole clip and if the person see's them coming he has plenty of time to side step. and why shouldn't an assassin grapple a tank? take out about half his armor and soften him up for others while you wait for the flames to (Hopefully) wear off, and remaneuverer to finish him off. anyways the main point of this thread is because the tank has a non-upgraded grapple with toss which seems like a bit much.
Perhaps you forgot that you can jump the gunner's slam. You can doge the assaults tackle and SEE the mine on the ground. You can attack the sniper from a distance and force him to leave his traps. You can blind the supports firebase. I think its safe to say the assassin has a counter to almost anything other classes can throw out, granted they don't get hot headed and attack from the front wich seems a lot like what you are trying to do.
I have one question. Everyone is always saying Tanks survive back grapples.... Playing as an Assassin, my back grapples kill all classess 100% of the time unless the have Support overshield. Is it that im playing exclusively agaisnt Tanks who dont use the Armor endorsement or does my GT imbue my Assassin with greater power?
no, i mainly go for the back, but if it's laggy it can miraculasly turn into a front grapple, AND if it's laggy it's hard to dodge them, but i generally do. hell, last game i played i grappled a gunner twice and both times he survived and slammed the ground the EXACT instant the grapple ended while he was still in the air same happend once on an assult, he survived and it lagged, i was still in grapple animation and i see him suddenly standing, didn't see him move or charge at all, and i got sent flying, luckly landing in the middle on GrenadeIII
Bottom line, don't fight tanks as an assassin. The tank's grapple only sends you very high and a short distance, and does like 20% damage so it is pretty weak.
lol if thats the case then leave the room and find one with better connection, because the assassin is almost unplayable in laggy rooms.
