Umm, after last night...no. LOLOLOLOLOL U MAD BRO? Diaz dun got WHOOOOOOPED and then cried about it in the interview.

Anyway, I could come in here and give my 2 cents, but I always get way to caught up in these threads once I get involved. Just remember that confidence =/= arrogance, and leadership =/= lack of ability to follow. That's a general statement made because of its relevance to this thread. That being said, it can apply to much more than just those involved in this thread, even just within the scopes of this community.

What!? You also picked Diaz to win you hypocrite :( I thought Diaz won. He didn't even let Condit win a single round, IMO. But I'm happy because I also like Condit very much. But I'll be honest, that match was very boring. In my eyes, that was just a one sided beatdown. Diaz raping and Condit running.

    Sorry for derailing.

Bored with the welterweight division until Hendricks or Rory Mac get their shots. Condit has very little chance of beating GSP compared to those guys, considering his TDD and ground game are sub-par for someone that high in the rankings.

Picking you first doesn't contradict any of what I've called you out on. Yes I play to win, and take it serious. At this point in the community, I want to keep everyone interested in the matches, as well as bring in and keep new players. I don't want to leave a bad impression on new players or even some experienced players because they didn't make the right move/play, or lost focus on what they should have.

constructive criticism is the only thing that will keep the players who **** up around.

people's personalities often clash, and I can't believe I'm saying it but I think we never get mad at each other regardless of what's been said, because it's a jersey thing. We can make fun of each other, make fun of ourselves, tell each other to shut the **** up, and call each other out when one steps a little out of line, without it effecting anything at all. If I put in any thought as to what's been said to me since day on privates, I wouldn't play anymore. However I'll let my games prove anything that need's backing up, and i'll shrug off the hate because you're all hundreds of miles away.

Some of chron's words hurt the community, but his actions help the community. Wildman, a few other helpful posters, and I could possibly have kept the community alive till now without chron, but that's a very slim chance. Love it or hate it, he's kept them going this far. He'll keep hosting and keeping them active, but it's everyone else's job to find new players and invite them to PM's. You gotta go the extra mile and sweet talk em into it.

Some good advice by peachy, and others. My advice to the community is, if you play PM matches just for fun, **** what anyone has to say. Give it your best, but don't listen to the haters. If you play private matches to win, or seriously as some would call it. Let your matches speak for yourself. I wish more people were determined to prove that they were the best. GP was deemed "unbeatable" by many at one point. I never played a PM but faced a couple in pubs and I thought since day 1 they were beatable. A little ignorant on my part at the time, but that's the mentality you have to have if you wish to improve.

Teapot, I am so embarrased that I did not know about the new MNC that they released on 360. What was it called, MNC-ThePrivateMatchOnly edition, I am searching for it but I can't find it. Damned weak search engines. I thought that they had just added a private match option to their already amazing game

Please PM me, Teapot. Don't waste your time writing an essay about how wrong I am. I will explain to you what I am doing, but I think that it should be pretty obvious.

No need for the PM. I know what you're saying. My post is heavily directed towards the private match community, which unfortunately is the majority of the players left on the board. Most MNC players don't use this forum, but most PM players due.

What I said only applies to PM's. Chron's involvment and construtive criticism doesn't apply to public matches or blitz modes. Had I been talking about them, then yes, this game is addictive and has a lot to offer.

There isn't much I can do to improve pubs, or even anything new to bring to the table.

Don't waste my time writing an essay about how wrong you are? Don't insult me tables, I'm smarter than that.

No one said anything about PM's only, or that they should be played to the exclusion of all things. After all, the core game mechanism is a public match. As for why PM's may be more important than public matches on some level, it all depends on what your goals are. I want to learn and get better - I want to see a measured return of skill on my investment of time. The only way for me to do that is in a PM.

Playing pubs by myself or with a friend or two was not helping me get any better any more. There is a limit to what I could achieve there, and it would have made the game stagnant.

I am one of the weakest players on any PM that I play because of that pub experience. In a pub there were too many excuses to not improve. Six man opposition, or my team is terrible, or that I had newbs, broken host migrations, I was screwing around, etc. When there was one or two good players against me, I could just avoid them and reinforce my bad habits on the ones I was better than. When they were on my team, I could only observe and not really gain insight to the meta game of what they were doing. When I did well I couldn't know if it was because I actually did well or because the other person was screwing around. If things went really bad, I could always just leave.

In a PM, I just can't get away with that. PMs force me to become better because everyone is a solid player. Everyone knows what to do, or learns very quickly. I can't just pick on the weakest link because more often than not THAT IS ME. I am not hating on myself, I know that I am getting better. I just have a lot of BAD habits that I need to get out of, forget that twitch I have ingrained that makes me charge too far forward over and over. If nothing else, being surrounded by people more experienced than me and giving me feedback forces me to learn a whole new level of situational awareness. I have no excuses to hide behind (aside from lag, there is always lag  ). I need to get better than I was in pubs, because that is what I see as fun.

I am still bad in the PM world. I am getting better after every PM I play. I am bringing that new understanding, awareness, and experience with me when I play pubs. Friends who have always been better than I was have noticed the change. I FINALLY got an unboosted All Time Great. I can respond to juiced assaults with something other than sheer panic. I can play a different class when there are already four assassins. These are things that I struggled with in the past and still do an extent, just not as much.

After about 250 levels of doing things wrong and convincing myself that they were not, I am starting to do them right. And that makes pubs WAY more fun. Eventually I will reach the limit of what I can learn and if there is no one there to benefit from passing that knowledge on to then I will probably leave shortly thereafter.

Of course do what you want and have fun your way, but I for one am happy with the way the PM and the pub experience work together. They are a system, and should not be mutually exclusive.

    TL;DR
PMs help me play pubs more good.

    Thanks!!

Wow, really, because you worked very hard to get private matches popular. Are you a defeatist?

Clever word play there, most of us know how smart you are, so you don't need to re-inforce it with subliminals. You probably don't remember or care but we did become friends because of our common interest in turntablism. Now we are no longer friends because of difference of opinion on a video game. I want to be friends with the Teapot I first met, the one that talked about all the fun DJing is, I really liked that guy. :(
