I recently bought a wired charging kit for the Xbox 360 controller. I thought, maybe now I can play MNC PC without pressing the wrong keys (I do it all the time, so hard to adjust)! I plugged it in and it prompted me for a driver search, so I did. It downloaded the driver for the "Xbox 360 Wireless Controller via Play & Charge Kit." This didn't work for me, as nothing recognized it sans the computer itself. I went on the MS website for the wired/ wireless driver (it's the same download, turns out), and installed that. Still didn't recognize it. I just want to use a controller for a game, so does anyone know what the problem is?

You can't use the charge and play kit as a wired controller on a computer. The kit only charges the controller; when you use the controller with the xbox, it is still transmitting wireless signals. You would need a wireless adapter.

I'd recommend just getting a wired controller though. No sense paying for the adapter.

Huh, I figured that would be the response. I'm just wondering why there would be drivers available. Wired controllers are hard to find retail nowadays and I don't find it worth it to get one off the internet. Looks like I'm stuck with keyboard. Thanks anyway.

The drivers are there for use with the adapter, apparently. Never bothered to get the adapter myself.

You can usually find a wired controller at your local Wal-Mart, Target, or any other such convenience store. Then there's always online sites like Amazon.

PC MNC was really only bearable for me with a controller. I'm not a huge fan of MKB controls at all.
