...is causing me to disconnect every half hour or so!!!! It used to happen before but the update before last sorted it, but since the last one it's all fucked up again. Anyone else have this problem? I was wondering if I need my network settings configured manually or left on auto. Help me but make it quick before Jessep locks this thread aswell!!!!!
I recently had to port forward my xbox. come to think of it, it was just after the update. i'd try that first. good luck jay!
couldn't tell you. I forwarded all applicable ports. it seemed to work though. no more rage-quitting.
This... not that I give a flying **** what anyone thinks. Just checked out Port forwarding... why isn't there just a button I can press specially for technophobes like me :?
I can't remember the name of the site, but the one I used to help me through it the first time had tons of different routers and modems with specific instructions and screenshots. Something like Port-forward.com...
portforward.com - cheers Jon. Nowhere near as painful as I was expecting. Please don't Lock this thread just yet... I won't be able to go on xboxlive and test it out 'til I finish work in the morning and may need more help.
I only had two of the needed ports open. If anyone is as useless as me... the ones you need are - 53 / 80 / 88 / 3074
Played for an hour and a half this morning without disconnecting - so far so good (except for the bad hosts - EFFING JACKBOT RINGING ME OUT!!!!! TWICE!!!!). Edited extra...
Seems a bit far-fetched, but Tom used to have problems with randomly dying by ring-out (walking off the map without knowing it) and lagging completely out of a lobby and sometimes XBL. His problem seemed to come out of nowhere (there may have been an update in there somewhere) but after a little research, we found that it was M$'s fault. Apparently you need to have a XBL compatible router. :| I like nuts! Also, try eliminating hardware to isolate the problem within your home (if it is hardware causing the problem). Plug your modem directly into your Xbox and see if that helps. If it does, you know you have a problem with your router.
