I ran into an issue the other day where a Gunner constantly jump-jetted and made it impossible to grapple him, even when he didn't know you were there. Anyway, a short recharge period on the jump-jets would solve this problem as it seems to be an exploit of some type. Also, the player in question was either using a turbo controller or some crazy way of holding the controller because they were looking all over while jump-jetting (even while gaining height), something that should be impossible when holding down the 'A' button. Thoughts? EDIT: I guess this applies to Tanks as well.
Easy Fix: Massive decrease in accuracy while flying for Tank and Gunner. Assault has an ability for flying so that moderates their amount of flying already.
How do you decrease the accuracy of the Jet Gun? Anyway, this is our only counter to grapple, why take it out? It isn't an exploit, how would you grab someone in the air?
I often do this as a tank, I'm pretty sure I have (very rarely) been successfully grappled in the air though. I imagine it's just difficult to get somebody who is unpredictably moving up/down as well as left/right/forward/back. I have trouble on people who are barely even moving (I rarely grapple though). Perhaps you aren't able too get people in the air though, in which case I guess it would be up to the devs as to whether it was intentional or not. As to the other thing you mentioned when I play a tank I actually slip my right pointer finger down so that the middle of the finger is over the "A" button and the tip is out of the way above the right thumbstick so that I can hold my finger down to hover, middle finger is still on the trigger, and thumbs can still control movement/aim. When you need the XYB buttons it isn't really an issue to shift your finger out of the way at the same time you move your thumb up. Very useful for fighting other tanks and gunners as it makes you difficult to hit while still being able to hit the other guy, gives assassins fits as well. When I went to hold my controller to see exactly how I did it just now it felt a little bit awkward but when I'm playing it doesn't seem as unnatural as you might imagine. Couldn't any player jump up and down continually to make it more difficult to grapple though? Jet packs might make it more effective, but they aren't what make it possible.
Small cooldown maybe, but i don't see much of an issue with the jetpacking of the heavier pros..it's the only mobility they have :/ I think that there should be an easier way to jetjump and aim at the same time..not just for combat reasons, but to make the jetjumping easier to do altogether. Might be worth making a thread about it?
Yeah, that's all I'm asking. It doesn't even need to be super long but a second or two cooldown would balance the class without letting it bunny-hop everywhere.
I play Tank almost exclusively and I can agree to a recharge for jets, but considering every other class can bunny hop, I think the tank/gunner should still retain the ability to "hop" while their jets are depleted.
just another con in using a grappling class. i agree it will get on ur nerves but somtimes the key to that class is to attack at the right moment
