Why the Sniper doesn't work in MNC (PC)

    Still, a waste of time. You'll have someone like Draketh or Tiblolan distracted for a few seconds and you'll get clicked on shortly after. The only way to avoid getting killed as assassin while visible is to melee so your head moves a lot. Even then, both of them have landed shots on Rogueblades and Knickles while "break dancing." In the best case scenario, you're going to take him away from sniping heavies / assaults for a few seconds.

    The only way you'll catch a good player with an airstrike is by placing them while he's being attacked by someone else or throwing multiple airstrikes around him. Good players wear headsets and will notice the airstrike sound as long as there is not a bunch of explosions going off around him. Again, I don't see how you get up to a sniper with your shotgun if they are playing safely (sniping from the longest possible lines of sight with 3 traps set).

    He can't lock down each and every path but quickscoping allows him to constantly look around. A good sniper won't be caught off guard often unless they are being overly aggressive.

    I agree. He shouldn't have such powerful close range options. It doesn't make any sense at all.

    Anyway, I don't think sniper is counterable by anything other than a better sniper or teamwork. The worst part is the teamwork required to take out the sniper forces you to ignore important objectives (killing bots, escorting your bots, killing turrets). If you dedicate half your team to killing the sniper, you'll probably get him if you coordinate well but he'll likely take out at least one of your team and he'll just come right back in 8 seconds. It's not even worth the time and resources you give up to deal with him. Sniper is broken and I'm resolved to playing in 0-sniper servers unless I've got Draketh online to wreck the sniper(s) on the other team.

    Sunny, that does kind of just make the problem 10x worse for 6 people on the other team. Whenever I see Tiblolan or Draketh or anyone join the server that I'm playing in, I just automatically leave.
    Draketh is one of the best snipers in the game... doesn't quite help. :evil:

    Why? Whenever I play against Tib as a gunner I enjoy it, it's not like he completely destroys me anyway.

    Really? I just can't stand it because playing heavy against sniper. I get dominated.

    Eh, if you're good with mortars and bunnyhopping, a Gunner can keep a Sniper pinned down or constantly running
    Tank you better be damn good with the Railgun

    It's either I play against Draketh or with him. My concern for the other team does not outweigh my desire to avoid rage-mode from getting quick scoped repeatedly. Me + Draketh pretty well means GG unless we've got 4 complete derp heads and the other team has a really objective-minded assassin. It's okay when people rage quit though. We just start doing sumo on G3 until the server refills :lol:.

    I don't play Sniper at all (I play with an Xbox controller), so I don't know how overpowered the class is, but what I would like to see is a movement speed nerf and quick scoping gone. I don't want to see another Sniper Rifle damage nerf at all though, and I don't want to see the freeze traps changed.

    If you nerf his movement speed, he won't be as powerful in close quarters. I don't get why he has to have the same speed as an (non-dashing non-lunging) Assassin. The speed just makes is much easier to quick scope as well.

    I think a good solution would be to only allow headshots after 2 seconds (maybe 3) of being scoped in. This timer would reset after each shot. You can still ROFLStomp, just less frequently, and it removes the quickscope problem without nerfing any other aspect of sniper.

    This is what they did to the TF2 Sniper and it worked out swimmingly.

    For me, snipers ruin the game sometimes. Im not super good but i just cant figure a way around pro snipers. With gold RoF endorsement they spray me with bodyshots way too fast, i dont even have time to run behind a wall.

    Endorsed nothing, the LG has almost half the RoF of the base MNC sniper rifle

    are you really trying to compare the sniper rifle that everyone can use from a deathmatch style game to the one from a class based objective focused one? :roll:

    I played a couple of rounds on the no Sniper server today and I like it. Not only have I met half the forum, it was way more entertaining to play without Snipers. Playing Assassin with over 100ms ping is a challenge though.
