Has anyone pointed out how incredibly strong the resemblance between this game and TF2 is?

    Or is that expressly forbidden?

It only looks kind of similar. Even then MNC is a little more slight futuristic whereas TF2 is modern/traditional in terms of character design. Not to mention outside having classes in a shooter (TF2 isn't the ONLY game to do that), the game itself is entirely different.

    Except they're not.

Assassin =/= Spy. Assassin can only cloak, can't impersonate an enemy team member. Also Assassin has no gun of which to speak, only shurikens. As far as character design goes, Assassin is more like a ninja.

Gunner and Heavy are the only comparisons I can see being quite similar.

Sniper, well how different can sniping classes be? At least in MNC the Sniper has the flak ball and the ice trap, different from TF2.

Support is kind of a mix between TF2's medic and engineer but isn't the exact same as either. Neither of them has an ability anything like the airstrike.

Sure the Tank has ONE weapon that does fire damage somewhat like a flamethrower but that hardly constitutes it being like the Pyro.

They are similar but how different can classes get in a shooter? I'd say MNC does a pretty good job in doing it's own thing.

But let's compare them anyway shall we? I'm not saying MNC is a clone, the gameplay is way different than I expected. But anyway:

    Assault and Demoman:
Both the only black members of their team
    Grenade Launchers
Remote bombs (X Skill; Sticky Bombs)
Charge Attack (B Skill; Charge 'n' Targe Shield)
Both put hands near crotch with a taunt (Assault Gun Taunt; Grenade Launcher Taunt)

    Tank and Pyro:
Both have a limited range weapon that causes burn damage and has afterburn
Both raises weapon above head with a taunt (Lazer Gun Taunt; Flamethrower Taunt)

    Sniper and Sniper:
Both have Snipers that zoom (duh)
    Both have Uzi's, both secondary
Both have throwable weapons (Flaks and traps; Jarate)

    Support and Medic:
    Both can heal using beams
    Both can overheal

    Support and Engineer:
    Both build sentries
    Both have mini-sentries
Both can upgrade sentries (Hack; Wrench Upgrade)
Both have Shotguns as secondary weapons
Both can heal (Heal Gun; Dispensers)
    Wear goggles

    Gunner and Heavy:
    Both big guys
    Have bald heads
    Use Miniguns
Can punch (Level 3 Grapple; Fists weapon)

    Assassin and Spy:
Both have one hit kills from behind
    Both can cloak
Both can unlimited cloak (Level 3 Cloak; Cloak And Dagger Watch)

    Assassin and Scout:
    Both run fast
Can get to high places (Smoke Bomb jump; Double Jump + Force-A-Nature)

Well I think that's about it. I miss any?

I don't think everyone would expect the assassin to always get one hit kills on grapples if she didn't resemble the spy so much.

To be honest i think they've looked at all of the most successful titles and taken a little bit of each and added their own crazy gamemode and ideas.

TF2 - classes are similar, cartoon style and humour are similar, taunts
COD4,5,6 - perks and create a class, titles (pro tags)
Halo - jumppads, futureistic art style (the platforms etc)
star wars battlefront - turret builds and bots assisting players

I did think it seemed very familiar at first, but after excessive playing, the gameplay is completely different. Wanna see a copy of TF2? Google H.A.V.E.
Yea, some aspects of some characters are similar, which is likely unintentional. it's not like every character is the same..and some characters (e.g gunner) has a very stereotypical appearence of a heavyily armed character..big, bald and stupid.

for me the biggest difference between the two is, TF2 was boring, MNC is crackalicious.

Anyone who has played TF2 can cleary see the likeness.

I realy liked TF2, but its lack of part system and matchmaking harmed it drasticly on the xbox.

MNC makes up for that, and adds even more to the fun gameplay with the whole turret defence/counterstrike cash earning type system.

To the comment of "Assault is the only black character" -- the assassin is a black woman. :)

The assassin does NOT have a "one hit kill" She CAN get one hit kills, but not always. taunts don't mean much, comparing a snipers weapon is just dumb, seeing as a sniper is a sniper and giving him a pistol for this fast past game would kill him. So 1 class is like two classes on TF2? Sounds like it has a lot going on for it.

Hey man, don't knock on TF2. I love that game for what it is and I love this game for what it is as well. They're both great games in their own right.

If there was a free camera mode, I'd probably make a machinima with all the TF2 sounds in this game. Why? I always hear them when I play! When I make a firebase, I hear "Sentry coming up!", and I even know how to slip the Ubercharge in there too! :D
