A class tutorial stage

    Been thinking about it and I was thinking of a class tutorial stage for each character.

    Why?
    ___________________________________________________________________________
    Because of all the people who don't know that there is a secondary weapon or that assassins do not make good player killers.

    Its been bad before but I am frustrated to tears how uneducated the masses are. I could not play any further trying to get to the opposing turrets. I could not reach them because they do not see or acknowledge there is a chat box. I am seriously bothered by this because the overall population has shrunk.

    This entire situation is just plain stupid and I cannot play MNC enjoyably because of it.

    A couple of things came to mind then. Which class should I start with? Should the arena be indoors? What obstacles are best for teaching new players how to use skills?

    I'm starting with assault because of the versatility of his skills.

    An obstacle course of sorts would be cool.

    like you can jump on the walls, charge from ledges etc. First time I played, I didnt see the potential in walls.

    I need more ideas like that for the support tutorial.

    I need to know how to make the hack skill seem useful. My initial idea is to have the support deploy a firebase and see it shoot down some bots and instruct the support to hack it while a text box says that is is great for area denial.

    I've made an sort of tutorial for the assassin, the person who speeks would likely be Mickey.

    (You walk out of spawn)

    "Hey, pretty girl, there walks an assault, let's try to kill him.'' (You let the assassin walk to him and try to grapple him.) (Assaults headcrab the assassin and kills her.)

    ''Hmmm, that didn't work out as planned, let's try something more stealthy, use your skills and attack him from behind.'' (you take the long route tries to attack him, but the assault headcrabs you again.)

    ''Hmmm, that didn't work neither, well, **** killing, let's do something that is easy, kill those bots there.''(You kill the bots)

    ''Look, there is another group of bots, let's kill those too.'' (You kill the bots.)

    ''Wow, you have JUICE. Maybe you can now kill those players.'' (You try o kill him with juice, but the assault uses charge 3 and you get rung out.)

    ''Hmmm, let's just stop thinking about the idea of killing people, let's just kill bots.'' (You kill some bots. (enough for another juicebar))

    ''Alright, now your bots die all because of that turret of there, let's try to destroy that thing. (You almost dies because of the turret.)

    ''Wow, that was close, maybe it's smart to use your juice, because everybody knows that juice is very usefull.'' (You use your juice and destroys the turret.)

    ''Nice job, now all you got to do is destroy there moneyball, and you've won. Maybe it goes faster when you have juice, because it makes you stronger. Look, you can buy it over there.'' (You buy juice and destroys the moneyball)

    ''Perfect. Do you see that because you killed bots and destroyd there turrets you won, while that assault just tried to kill people and no bots, so he lost. Therefore, always kill the bots, because that makes you win. ''

    That is a little too much. It would make the assassin seem gimped and unattractive playwise.

    I'd like to take a moment to recognize Extra Credit's thoughts on the creation of a proper tutorial.

    With that in mind some of my current designs will have to change. The implementation is still up to uber but if it makes a good impression we may be seeing it soon.



    The Assault stages are coming along but I need ideas for displaying the skills.

    For flight I have several platforms that I want the assault to fly around and I have an idea for a charge+flight race.

    To be fair it was half a joke. But maybe it would do this: Good people see that the assassin is a winner and uses it right, but bad people think OMG, this class sucks and don't play it, which results in less servers with 7 assassins, which happened today, the bad part was, there ware only 10 people, there team had 4/5 assassins, our team 3/5.

    I'd like for there to be some new announcer... announcements... to mercilessly harass people who build laser blazers.

    You mean new Announcer lines? That would be good like:
    Hey [....] have you ever tired of bots sneaking to your base too quickly? Well LazerRazor gives you a SHAVEICE TURRET! Try it out!

    "Hey look at that cheapskate down there! Hoo boy that turret won't last long. I bet even slim bots can take that out."

    "I find that lazer blazers are more useful heating tea than anything. Can't expect to win if you rely too much on them."

    Well its more of a model that I have planned.

    It will be a crappy model of general obstacles for the assault to traverse using skills his and weapons as well as indications of where he should be standing and such, but what can you do?
