Updates and the community

Server stability has been far better then all the other glitches the game has ... like air grapples, jump pad glitches, hit reg, people getting stuck in one spot and being invincible, damaging someone/something but not doing any damage. I could go on and on but whats the point, apparently Uber can care less about playability and the community, but rather suck everyone of their money and laugh ... of course they're not the only ones either.

Unfortunately, this is the only half *** FPS out right now ... and it's not even First Person. The true Gamers are stuck with substandard games that are ok at best, I dont think that's acceptable at all. All games you come by now are ported from console so the companies can save money ... which is BS! The time and effort they spend recoding the game to run OK on PC as well as the updates and fixes to bring it up to par over time (cause they did little to no sandbox and/or beta testing) would of took the same amount of time if they did it right in the first place.

New players come into this substandard gaming community and that's what they expect and, unfortunately is what is driving the companies to create more garbage with slush content. There are very few Gamers out there any more ... they're just players and we have the gaming companies to blame for it.

So little point in this thread.

I would normally post something of some length but honestly it is not worth it. I will allow someone more eloquent and informed to make that choice.

The point is... Don't complain on free update. Even then they are releasing new content slowly....

I've been under the impression that the console had all those bugs, and at this point, even has more(I have not played the console version as I do not own an xbox). Air grapples have mostly been fixed. Not dealing damage can usually be attributed to the lag of one of the players(and is seen in many games).

Uber is hard at work on an engine shift that should fix a number of the bugs both for the the PC and the console(as they should get the update as well).

TF2 is free now, play that is you find the bugs in this game too crippling. Also, mutiplayer shooters have ALWAYS had obnoxious bugs in them. Don't kid yourself. If you want a bug free game play a turn based strategy. Otherwise, suck it up.

And using the term Gamer in such a fashion is a joke. People play games, there are those that spend the time to get good and those that are just looking to **** around. Games are made to be FUN. If you don't understand that concept I'm not sure why you even bother calling yourself a Gamer.

Your comment falls under the new standards. For example, I've never paid for an update to a game in the 20 years I've been playing them on PC. Besides, I would like bug fixes rather then new content that create more bugs, and I'm sure others would agree.

You have probably gotten more entertainment value from a $15 game than a typical $50-60 AAA title, and you're complaining about not getting enough free updates :lol:.

As far as the gamers vs. players jazz, it's an inevitability as gaming has become more widespread and accessible. We have many more casual players than ever before. A couple decades ago, gamers were probably by and large what you would call "hardcore." Nowadays, everyone and their mother could be playing games (iPhone games are games too). How about we get with the times and realize the gaming industry has changed a lot in the last 20 years?

There's some truth to your final paragraph about the gaming industry feeding crap content to casual gamers but I hardly think Uber fits this category. MNC does not lend itself to a casual audience (not unless you enjoy being repeatedly annihilated anyway).

Yet I liked TF2 when Valve gave to US their own stuff... right now It's all about adding hats and making this game even more buggy.

Uber is trying to give US a new free-content and fix bugs at once (well it takes a lot of time to make it properly)

Uber don't update their game like Valve TF2.
Tomorrow update = 1 fix + 5 bugs
2 days later = Fix bug
5 days later = Fix crashing , more bugs.

TF2 has just as many problems especially being on the garbage Source engine. And no, shooters have not ALWAYS had obnoxious bugs. I was a competitive Quake and UT player back when shooters were shooters and the bugs, if I have to give a ratio, I would say 1:10 and if there was a bug it was something very minor that most the time wouldn't even be noticeable.

It's gone form nerds that know how to have fun to nerds who take themselves too seriously. It's sad really.

I consider myself a gamer. I play PnP and board games whenever possible. Shooters are for when I don't have people to play with. The only reason to play any game is fun. Stop whining about games you don't like and play some that you do.

That's the problem, the good ones don't have a big enough player base to support good game play anymore. Of course I still play my old games, but it's hit or miss.

And why must it be considered whining for most people here, is that the age range I'm dealing with? Being social on the forums isn't asking for an attack, not sure how or why online communities have strayed to this mentality, maybe insecurities? Can there ever be a conversation with level headed debate ...

I played maybe 6 hours tops in Black ops since Christmas, while I have played 74 hours of MNC. Black Ops was kinda a rip off.

And yes, I know 74 hours is low, I don't game online as much these days. In comparison, I have put 300+ hours in Final Fantasy XII for my old PS2.

I can't see the word Gamer used in such a way and NOT see it as whining. Any time someone acts like they're better because of how they choose to have fun I get perturbed. If people are having fun, there's no problem. If someone is enjoying a game you find bad, let them.

Also I would suspect by "competitive gamer" he was actually meaning "Cal-O Champion". Being a Cal-O champ was like winning the special olympics for most kids in its day.
