Seriously, the c4 of the assault is grossly underpowered. the only way to kill a person with full health (other than sniper or assassin) is to get a stick with it. even a blackjack does not instantly die when he is within the radius of the c4, but not stuck. The assaults c4 should do more damage, but not as much as airstrike. It probably should do about 2.5x what it is doing now The reason it shouldn't do as much as the airstrike is because you can choose when it goes off.
it can outright kill snipers, assassins, and support (who haven't upgraded to level 3 passive). the damage is mitigated by your targets distance from the actual charge. if they are on top of it they take full damage; at the fringe of the circle, you get knocked back and set on fire. with everyone taking health as their gold endorsement everything feels underpowered.
It has phenomenal knockback, and it has the burning effect after, which does damage over time and delays their regeneration. I think it's fine.
I agree with the counter-position as well. Assault is my main. The C4 is fine; against users it is OVERpowered if anything. I think it could stand to do more damage to turrets though, IMO. What I would change about the Assaults supreme weakness is the main gun range. I think the range of super damage up close and almost no damage at medium range is a bit ridiculous. It works to some extent, as the secondary weapon still does nice damage.. but increasing the ranged damage just a little would make me happy. -sG
It gives him another way to knock people off the map, as if his insane charge+grapple wasn't enough. In the case that it doesn't cause a ringout, the knockback+slow+fire can turn someone into an easy target to finish off It could stand to do more damage to the Firebase though, but that goes for a lot of things..
I would also suggest that the damage range on the Assault's rifle should be changed. Make it slightly more gradual. Keep the minimal, if any, long range damage, but increase the medium range damage while decreasing the short range damage. Basically, make the grade of damage decline between Short and Medium range a little less steep. I think that everyone would benefit.
Damage could be upped a little against gunners to make them less dominant but the sound it makes gives it away to easy, at least for me. (using a 5.1 headset).
You have to see it as a bomb which pushes people away and sets them on fire instead of a direct damage dealing bomb, they may be weak but you can stick them in some key places to launch people or get them away from your moneyball.
I've noticed that really good assaults use the C4 to throw me off the map, and god does it work. I've never played as an assault, though, so I have no idea how much damage it actually does, though being lit on fire is very annoying.
When I play an Assault, I rarely use the C4 for other Pros. I've found that it's MUCH better when escorting bots and you need to quickly destroy enemy bots. I don't think it's underpowered at all, really. If anything, it'd be nice to have more range on it, but that's it.
yeah, sounds like misuse by the OP really.. its more for knocking ppl back/off the map and making assassins visible+damaged. if they didn't fall off a map then just put a round into em to finish em. game over. thats more or less assault's whole game really... either you knock ppl off maps (charge/bomb) or you weaken them with your timed bomb, come from the corner or whaever and finish em off easily, etc... it's all about the rush/trap/rush! bit like the sniper, but.. em.. less lame because you're always rushing instead of hiding in a corner.
