Don't know if you guys saw this but RPS did a post on uncle tully's update on MNC and of course haiku's and horrible puns followed in the comments: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/05 ... is-insane/ and they're looking to set up a game night we an only hope this'll bring in more players
god those comments are retarded, its charvs for one, and they are nothing like wiggers, bros or any of that crap, white trash would be closest example and that is way off
Just like other RPS news are spammed by stupid comments. But some are good , some are bad , some are useless. Sadly low number of people play this game... It's maybe because of not enough good Tutorial?
I know i shouldnt be comparing this game to TF2.. but TF2 didn't have a tutorial for ages and it still had a huge following just saying
No, it's cause it isn't streamlined enough in terms of gameplay, objectives, interface and hud. Tutorial's worth sh*t when the player behind the controller is a monkey.
I'd like to share opinions on what streamlined is with you. Not that I'm saying MNC is streamline. It isn't. My personal definition of ultra streamlined gameplay is Portal or TF2 but your definition may be different. Would you care to discuss in terms of HUD?
Give a better tutorial about counters , damage , juice , tactic , classes specialities to make players more informed. For example. Many assassins (newbies) don't know that front stab deals less damage than Backstab. Not many people knows about Gunner Deploy Slowdown effect Not many people knows that you can sticky up a bomb to enemy to get insta-kill. People are pissed when I play as sniper... they are saying that I'm cheating because I use Passive LVL 3 skill as advantage on Spunky Cola. TL;DR Uber should make videos about perks or better tutorial... newbies are WAY TOO EASY TO KILL (no satisfaction)
Huh? That's... cheating? I love the attitude towards snipers in both TF2 and MNC. Bodshot the guy constantly? You're a noob. Headshot the guy consistently? Now you're a hacker. I'll put in my two cents. It's not the tutorials, really, if you ask me. Teaching a man how to use buttons won't magically make him skilled as well. It's delicate issues like juicing, grappling, 'Why are the bots humping my moneyball and why did it just fall down omg' that confuse the shizzle out of newbies, and let's face it: MNC is just not newbie friendly at all. If you're more skilled and experienced than someone in MNC, you won't just simply get the upperhand. You'll essentially cripple the other team unless they have their own Hercules. The matchmaking in this game is there, but give the other team a clearly superior player, and he can single handedly steamroll the game for his team, without his team's help. That, I find a little odd in what's meant to be a team game. At least in TF2, you need a team mate to accomplish an uber. Whereas, here, you can solo a juice, or simply buy it because you're such a sexy high rolling killing machine. Healing's pretty much the only direct interaction that team members have between each other. Why not have an assassin be able to slap a team mate so he/she comes out of a stun or something? Make assaults be able to catch a team mate in midair before they get ringed out, and become an omg hero? The possibilities are all there yet they're not happening.
I agree with you. Monday Night Combat isn't friendly for fresh people. I've meet almost everyday at least 3 newbies (with low level) and when I kill them like a twelve time It's make me sad because that guy can't make anything good for his team. Team coop... yeah right. I barely notice that. Unless you are playing with good players or friends. If you join to random server without anybody or you don't know anybody on this server you'll probably get lunge-stabbed by Assassin while you are playing Sniper or Support (yes It's very risky for Support). Why? Because If you heal your teammates they usually run forward to enemy base and they are trying to make a damage. They totally forgot about their job (protect the medic). Heh. I remember times when I did coop thing. One Assassin was backstabbing a juiced (not in use) Tank , so I helped her (I was as Sniper back then)... I used SMG. He died with no chance to use a juice. I think Sniper bodyshots are bad because that proves about your snipping skills. And yeah. It makes enemy retreat... which is good for newbies (while being as sniper). It's hard to say who is hacker right now. I remember a server when I was owning whole team as a Sniper http://uppix.net/a/7/1/a562de2f37044999 ... afae55.png (HIYO MR.FACE ) They tried to kick me at the end of match. They called someone else as a hacker but not me. Do you get it? My team called their sniper (too bad he left) that he is a hacker. Overall Sniper is CHEAP class. I can get 20 kills in less than 6 min. Flak , Headshot , Trap , Grapple... for him It's everything good.
i honestly think that the problem isn't so much the game as it is the players. A lot of players these days truly believe they are awesome at gaming, when they die over and over again they rq simple as that, and then there are other people who simply do not try to get better, people seem to not want to actually put any effort into playing games these days to get better at said games, i think they just expect kills to be handed to them on a plate just for buying the game, cod players for example. It seems to me that the pc community is becoming more and more like the xbox community in these respects, also the quality of games these days is truly awful, games are made so easy so any idiot can get a kill then tell his friends that he is pr0, gone are the days of high skill fps games, they died with ut2k4 imo.
Thats an interesting like of thought but it leads me to a pretty disheartening conclusion. That MNC only attracts and keeps people who are willing to try and learn to play and play well as a team. The disheartening part is that that means there are only 200 of those people out there who have heard of MNC.
I agree that this game isn't newfag friendly. The new guy does have trouble. But isn't most games like this? I have a question. I do not remember TF2 having a tutorial. Did it? Or did people just play it and lrn2play? At any rate...
Tutorial? Sounds like kids these days are getting spoiled and are entitled to get spoon fed how to work a game.. Amusing.
The basics of the game are not easy to learn (just like in TF2). TF2 had some fancy hats thing so a lot of people were idling for it (instead playing the game....yes I was there as well). Don't forget about Valve Updates that gives weapons.... many people launched TF2 because of new Major Update. And still TF2 have many "cheap" class , like Soldier , Heavy , Engineer , Pyro , Scout , Sniper. In MNC It's only Sniper , Tank , Support and Possible Assault (but requires tactic to kill everybody without using Perk Gold-Armor). A video showing all aspects of game is better? Just look at Brink Tutorial Video.... It tells about everything.
I'd prefer videos showing how each class works narrated by the developers with links ingame or on youtube just like when the game was released on XBox and EKA played Tank and Support.
