Higher ranked players poll

This is a little poll for the higher ranked people out there to see the distribution of the better players, from what I can tell 85%+ go assault as that seems to be the most diverse class. Just make a post saying which class you use and why you chose that class, will be interesting to see who picked what and why.

Mainly Sniper because OHKO accross the map are my style.
Then switched to tank because he's got a railgun which feels a little like sniper rifle and can carry the team (destroy bots, turrets, moneyball without relying on the team too much).

Main class would be assassin but I don't play it a lot in pubs because it would be somewhat unfair. Picked it because there is very little aiming involved and has fast gameplay which I like.

I switch around mostly and play everything except support (depends on what the other people pick). Though if I want to annoy people I play assault.

Assault but I roll support and tank when I'm feeling confident.

I'm partial to assassin right now if my ping supports it.

Assassin/Tank for real games, Flapjack Gunner for pubs.

Prefer the classes that don't need to aim that much, allows me to focus more on what other people are doing and react better.

Everything but assassin as obvious from my steam achievements. I played support a lot right when the game came out but 2500 healgun kills is not something on my list of to dos. Assassin is just terribly boring to me: Kill bots kill bots juice destroy base, kill more bots juice destroy ball. Throw one player making it their goal to not let you freely bang on bots and it is a bad day.

I also stay away from Gunner and Tank if I am having to play against snipers like Snug and Tibolan.

As far as what I "enjoy" playing the most though; Tank. I mean after all I do love burning things.

I like to play a bit of everything. I have one custom slot for each class:

I think I play assault and gunner the most these days.


Assault: Most comfortable class to play against other good players, especially snipers.

Gunner: Usually the easiest class to win with in pubs, with ridiculous amounts of kills. Great for when I don't feel like my team is competent enough to take down turrets. Falls apart against good assaults and snipers though.

Tank: I usually kick *** and have a lot of fun playing tank, but for some reason I just don't feel like using him that much anymore. His lack of range (f**k the railgun) just makes me feel anxious, even though I actually deal with it very well.

Support: I actually play support more offensively than most of my other classes.. Put my firebase in a forward position, heal people on the front lines, blast fools in the face with my boomstick, and airstrike some turrets. When my team is forced into a defensive posture I'm probably the worst support ever.

Sniper: Totally absurd class. I usually only play it when I'm in a bad mood to make people cry.

Assassin: This was my favorite class on 360 because aiming with a stick sucks ***. It's a ton of fun and highly effective when it feels right, but for some reason it's been feeling a bit sluggish lately, so I only play it occasionally.

Not sure I count as high ranked, but here I go.

I mainly play assassin as I feel I make the biggest difference on my team. The moneyball is the focus of the game and killing bots and turrets is how you get there.

Second up would have to be support. And it's only second by a small margin. The right support in the right place can make all the difference in a match.

Next it's a tie, between product grenade crazy tank, and ginger stepchild. For some reason I find hitting people at long range with the product grenade easier than hitting them at close with a charge, and ginger stepchild does way better than people give it credit for.

I almost never play assault because it feels completely useless. And I almost never play gunner because... I dunno why I don't play gunner actually. I should give him a second chance.

Anyway...

I play tank mainly because it is rare to see tank players, even though the tank has a good spread and lots of attributes and abilities and weapons.

Next, support, because I play the most multitasking support ever. Gapshots, frontline healing, turret matinence, firebase placement, airstrike suppression, and juice pillaging... all of these things within the same game.

Similar here. I main Assault but if I feel my team can pull it off, Support is my second choice.
If I wanna goof around and think my team can manage, I'll go Sniper/Tank/Gunner

I play support as my main. I average around a 2.5-3 kdr with it. I can do much higher with Sin/Assault/Tank but I find them pretty boring. I chose support as my main because I find myself always doing something, and also when I started playing it seemed like no one played support so my team always appreciated the help. There is never really a dull moment when I play. I play mainly an agro style support. I like to find a place for my firebase where it can rake in money from bot kills, but also that I can retreat to if needed. I guess I should also note that I play objectively only. If their $ball is down and I have juice I will juice on it, even if it costs me my life. I like to win, kdr is second to me.

After maining Assassin since Beta, I got bored and started playing Sniper. Also learning Assault/Tank when the crowds are smaller and I won't just get hosed repeatedly.

Assassin: Because I like speed and I hate Snipers. If there is a pro sniper on the other team I will always go Assassin.
I like navigating the arena quickly. Changes the scenery and keeps my screen fresh at all times. Just like in real life, I dont spending time getting where I am going, I just want to hurry up and be there.

Tank: Because I dont like getting one-hit killed by either Assassins or Snipers. I dont like dying easily. I want to have enough health to jump into a fight and last, even against several players.



On a side note, in another topic someone complained about seeing so many Tanks these days after the Assault nerf. This is simply false. These days, I have never seen so many Assassins in my life.
We had 4 (including myself) on my team once, plus 2 on the other team.
It was actually funny at one point because we were swarming around this one Tank like sharks, buzzing by him each taking one bite and then circling back around for another.

But according to this poll so far, Assault is still the most-used class, and that aligns with what I see in games.

To be honest a lot of people in this topic have said Assassin.

I say Assassin too, then assault if we already have 1 or 2 and then gunner.

I think I've played tank more often, though not by a large margin. My gf plays sin 99% of the time and since were usually on the same team I don't play it too much.

Other than that I like to try to fill the gaps on my team. Too many pro killing classes on my team? Go tank and push bots. A boatload of fatties on the other team? Go sniper and try to pop some grapes.

I suppose I could get much better with a single class if I stuck with it, but I mainly play late at night and there is often a distinct lack of healthy competition. Rolling teams late at night is a great way to kill the only servers you get a decent ping on. So I switch up my class to even things out a bit.

Support, especially since assault nerf, is one class that rides assaults like ponies.

Can't destroy turrets, can't bunnyhop firebases, not enough armor to take a servere shotgun beating... can't push bots as fast, or get juice as fast for it. The support is just the counter. Don't be mad brah.
