Last couple matches I've been in once OT starts everyone just sort of freezes, I was in a game just now and it hit OT with my team slightly losing in moneyball damage, I rushed once and died then I juiced rushed twice and died both times yet I was the only one on my team who did, it really annoyed me because we could of won so easily if the other gunner/tank didn't care about KDR. /rant
Really? I just immediately rush, smokebomb my way onto a glass wall, then start laying shurikans into the moneyball.
If you juice rush in OT twice and die without destroying the money ball I have no idea what the hell you're doing right.
A lot of players are probably just caught off guard when OT arrives because they don't check the clock. I am always watching the clock and when the 2:00 mark hits, then I go into OT preparation. Occasionally I will let my team know that OT is about to begin. You could say the same about the Annihilator to some extent. Seems like a lot of players don't even know it exists let alone keep track of when it will be available.
It's not easy when the opponents have camped up with 2 firebases and 2 tanks. I could hardly get to the moneyball but nevertheless I did try my hardest. Always trying to be negative towards me.
It is quite a bugger moment when you are the only guy rushing the ball when you're playing a class that wasn't quite made for juice rushes (sniper). It's become a routine that I'm so used to that it doesn't bother me anymore. What does bother me when you have this one guy constantly screaming at the team to go attack the ball, and throughout the whole time, you can see the enemy's ball hp is not being touched whatsoever; showing the preacher isn't quite doing what he's preaching. Same goes for those demanding turrets yet never building any themselves. Seriously now.
"Just go attack the ball" is not always a viable strategy. If you're a Gunner and the game goes into overtime while the enemy has both lanes pushed up an a comfortably-established seat in the Annihilator / Juice Console plaza with a few RockIts laying around their base, you're not just going to walk over to their Moneyball and start cracking it open. To put it another way: just because the Moneyball is down doesn't mean it's completely undefended.
i love it when the other team is winning but lets through that 1 assault/support/assassin and you win, and then they have the biggest bitch fit of their life, its so funny
It's not about cracking it open or completely destroying it, it's about doing as much damage as possible while you can. Doesn't matter if you die if you're not a KDR whore. Play for the objective which is to win, if they push for your moneyball you counter-attack and hit them at the same time. When it gets to OT all bets are off anyone can win basically.
The game the OP is talking about, his team controlled the middle/juice machines. I ended up getting into their base with juice right before OT hit. So I ended up waiting and putting enough damage on the ball to win. I was playing support, so I couldn't make it back after that first run but surprisingly that was all we needed. And yeah we had our base fairly locked down. Although his team sat on the walkway right before our base(Laze Razor) and kinda just shot at us instead of moving in.
A couple of people need to sit back and try harrass the enemy as much as possible to slow down the damage to your ball while the assaults and assassins go wreck their ball. If I'm playing gunner I head on over and do as much damage as I can before dying. When respawning I'll sit in defence if there are too many of them on our ball, otherwise I'll head back again. Ofc if there's only 25 seconds left when I respawn then I can't move my slow butt fast enough so I'll just sit in defence then.
...people are cautious during OT? I can never tell, 20 seconds before OT i'm buying juice if i don't have it and getting in position. I never see anyone cautious in the enemy base, they never stop me destroying the moneyball. Hell i open fire on it the second it drops into OT. But i guarantee thier tears do indeed taste delicious.
It's incredibly satisfying as an assassin to slip into the enemy base and finish off their money ball with a well timed juice. I ignore everything else in OT. However as gunner I sometimes revert to defense after my initial attack ends.
I've seen it work both ways: killing people on our moneyball and being killed trying to damage the enemy moneyball. Certain classes are far better suited to defence. A decent gunner will clear people out quickly. The problem comes in when the opposition are actually smart and kill fresh respawns before focusing back on the moneyball. I often try to look around a bit if there are a couple of teammates with me. Try to cover them while they do the damage. If I'm alone though I'll just try get in as mach pain as possible while moving around to keep the ball between me and whoever pitches up.
