Dear UberEnt staff, Monday Night Combat is a great game, don't get me wrong. I have 167 hours played so far, it's just all the little bugs, glitches, and issues that add up and make me want to just go skin a cat. It's invincible firebases, getting grappled midair, getting ground-slammed by a gunner while in midair. I can get killed in a quarter second as a tank by a gunner running Armor, Hip Clip, Reload Time and it takes me half a mag to do the same to an enemey sin while I run crits. It is smoke bombing away and turning invisible only to have my health bar still be visible be the enemy gunner. It is getting glanced at by a tank and dying in the spawn room 10 seconds later due to burn. It is getting thrown out of the map by hundreds of means. Getting ejected, slammed, thrown out via jackbot, grappled by snipers, gunners, tanks, and assaults which throw you 100 yards into the stands. It is getting one shot killed using gold armor by the absolutely retarded assault's charge grapple. It is hacking your firebase or turret only to have the skill magically fail, go onto cooldown, and the turret remain unhacked. It is throwing an artillery strike which would net you a "Round the Horn" only to die after throwing it, and the bomb mysteriously not go off. It is grappling an enemy sniper, leaving them on the ground, but they can stand up and grapple me before I can do a dash/slash forward. It is having certain classes which can crowd control a juiced pro as if he/she were a normal pro (*cough* assault *cough*). It is a culmination of all of these things that really pisses me off. On their own these issues are small, and hardly noticeable. In fact, 80% of the time I absolutely LOVE playing this amazing game. It is just that other 20% that completely ruins it. It takes all of the good, clean, fun gameplay that I have experienced and wraps it in a excrement soaked package, bidding it adieu as it is flushed down the proverbial toilet that is a "bad game." I can play this game for three hours and not encounter a single one of the aforementioned problems, however, if in one game lasting a mere 10 minutes I experience, say, 10 of these things, I absolutely lose it. I fly of the f%#&ing handle. It makes me so mad, so enraged that I just cannot fathom ever having fun in this glitch-riddled game again. So I log off. Close steam. Shut down my computer. Maybe have a cup of tea or a bowl of cereal. I forget all about it. The next time I log on all I can think of are the fun aspects in the game. And the cycle continues. I keep coming back. So congratulations, UberEnt. You managed to make a game with so many issues that if it were a AAA title it would be ridiculed to hell and back, but at the same time so entertaining compared to the AAA titles that I keep. coming. back. I literally cannot stop playing this game. I hope you are happy. Because I know I'm sure as hell not. Yours truly, Knovocaine (ps- Flame all you want young ones, I will not waste my time responding)
Couldn't resist. On a more serious note, whenever I get frustrated with some of the glitches (mostly bugged grapples) I go play another game for a bit and come back to MNC.
They fixed that in the last patch So if the Gunner is still landing shots, he either wasn't blinded, blinding faded out before your cloak stabilized or he did a good estimate of your escape trajectory and got lucky If you haven't been damaged, the only way a chargegrapple will kill a Gold-armored Assassin is through a RingOut. Anything else will leave you with about 75 health There's been a rediculous number of times where I've been frontgrappled by a Sin and she gets to attack first(as Assault) A Juiced Assassin should be able to tear through any Assault with ease. 2-3 slashes = dead, a handful of shurikens = dead
So if we make a TL;DR - The conclussion would be that you are unsatisfied with the way the game works and you are angered by playing it due to some of the game mechanics? What would your own solution be to stop this from happening?
Nah, the TL;DR would be the bugs are getting in the way of one of the most addicting games ever. That and some of the one-hit kills. There are a few mechanics that he's complaining about, but mostly bugs/clunky thinks. Most people have a problem with one thing or another. Gamers tend to be a bunch of whiny bitches in that respect. Personally I can almost never play this game for more than 6 matches at a time. Even if I do really REALLY well something just clicks and I have to do something else. I don't know why.
Its definitely this. Honestly the bugs and glitches normally don't bother me because I get like one or two deaths which they contributed too per match, but every once in a while I get in a game where ever single time I die it was due to something buggy. At the end of the match I had gone 16-6 which is respectable for my sin play. Not as good as my support, but I am still learning sin, but all 6 of my deaths were from the most off the wall unlucky things. Two of them were from snipers who grappled me, and sent me flying down the lane on Grenade III. I was on a straight course to land safely in the middle of the lane, when I hit one of those glass barriers on the little bridges, glance off of it, and go careening into the stands. I just can't stand all of those moments. They build up, and I just can't play any more.
Honestly, I understand. I played sniper for the first time in a few weeks, and went like 20-3 one of the rounds. All 3 of those deaths were a facegrapple while at full health, with silver armor. No lunge, no slashes, just a facegrapple. This was on a silver armor sniper. That shouldn't kill me, I don't care what hostilebalance.ini says, it just shouldn't. I get that it's a light class, but the armor should be making it slightly more viable. That's the stuff that makes me mad. And the grapple bugs. Those are so horrible, you jump, about to activate jump jets because you are at full height and.... BAM! Backgrappled by a sin while 10 feet up in the air. And I only play on low ping servers (100 or less usually) so I know it wasn't a latency issue. It's the skill drain on supports - they are terrible bot killers, and have no escape mechanism, yet their skills, which have the longest cooldowns in the game (though I bet assault cooldowns are pretty close now) and get drained at the same speed as tank skills (which have the fastest cooldowns on the game)
I had one game that was so bugged people actually noticed all the crap that was happening to me and called me a bug magnet. All in one game on Steel Peel Arena: #1: Juiced specifically to kill a remote turret, but discovered it was bugged/invincible and it killed me instead. #2: Jump pad launched me off the arena instead of onto the bridge from my base (no one was around to alter my flight path; happened twice in the same game, almost in a row). #3: Got stuck on geometry worse than ever. My guy was jittering up and down, unable to jump, charge, or move at all. Only turn. Happened while juiced and caused me to be unable to charge into a cluster of 3 enemies with low health (as Tank), so instead of 3 kills I just died. But I still had fun. L. Spiro
20% of your post contained legitimate complaints, the other 80% are lag-related crap that happen sevenfold in other games.
Those two specifically. The afterburn I can deal with; Tank's the `sin's hard counter. It's annoying as all hell to have him just poke you once as you retreat and be guaranteed a kill while he goes about his merry way away from you, but meh. The throws, though, are ludicrous. There are more ways to get knocked out of the ring than there are ways to get killed without falling, it feels like. That, plus how badly this game seems to suffer from lag compared to most games I've played (slams that hit me in the middle of my jump, charges that miss me by two body widths and still connect) make it incredibly frustrating to play this for more than five or six games once these things have popped up in gameplay.
If a tank/gunner/assault burns you run away, grapple a bot/pro and/or use the smoke bomb. Helps most of the time. The only throw that is bullshit is the assault grapple.
After playing for long enough you quickly learn the usual tricks. These days i generally only get killed by 1: glitches (lunge glitch makes me raaaaage train) 2: something i didn't see (the .3 on the end of that "nearby" rockit turret is a personal favorite) 3: someone who is lucky enough to catch me while i'm busy prying my sword from his mates spine. Assaults always charge. Late game you always jump, early game you smoke bomb or jump. An Assassin! Quick! Bash your face on that charge button! Way to be predictable. Assaults are my second most killed class for this reason. Tanks. Tanks are always the same. They death blossom, you grab them while they're reloading, they can't bash thier face on that charge button fast enough either. The list goes on. But in general it's only the bugs and more glitchy mechanics that get on my tits these days.
