No controller vs. keyboard/mouse debate please. I already know. Can I enable the aim-assist feature on PC? I'm planning on using a 360 controller to play MNC on the PC.
Call me crazy, but I think if you use the controller, it is enabled. A few weeks ago, as a Support with a shotgun out, I was trying to fight within a group of bots/enemy pros with an invisible assassin. I turned left to where it was clear of anything, to try and track the assassin, and my cursor ever so slightly shifted to the left, slightly following the assassin. This is the only time I have been made aware of it. Most other times I never see it take effect.
because you choose to play with a lesser favourable hardware, should you be compensated? You have mouse+keyboard available, use it, especially for FPS & especially on PC. Uber shouldn't put in compensation for using outdated hardware, which is the controller. If you can have auto-aim, I want extra gold for having a slow PC, fair ?
http://www.uberent.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=9204&p=127813&hilit=controller#p127813 Yes: AA is on for controllers (automatically i think). And no: you can't have more cash for having a slow pc.
It's called preference, he wants to use a controller, let him use it. In a game full of M&K users, AA isn't a bad thing for controller users.
Okey - I prefer to use a **** pc on maximum settings to make it lag like hell. Please let me receive more gold for killing people as it's harder. I want this compensation as I don't wanna decrease my graphics on my stoneage PC. You get it now?
Well, it's more that I've heard it can follow cloaked assassins. Potentially ones outside the range that's required to visibly see a space distortion or whatever you feel like calling it. On top of that, I'm not sure if aim assistance includes the whole deal with shot adjustment. You know, a miss so close the game automatically adjusts it to hit anyway. I wouldn't think it impossible with proper input adjustments that you could fix any smoothing effects of normal aim while keeping that part. It's all about figuring out how is determines you're using a 360 controller and assigning those inputs to the keyboard properly, or emulating 360 controller input through key presses. The latter, however, would probably introduce some input lag which might or might not affect the whole usefulness of it in the first place. Or this entire idea could be garbage depending on how the game was made. It wouldn't be difficult to make the game figure out when people are trying to cheat the system and when they aren't and compensate accordingly.. It's tricksy, like hobbitses.
I have to applaud uber for doing this. Its pretty rare for any developer to allow controllers to have a balancing factor to help them out. As the master race we all know that pc precision is way higher than a controller.
Uber is kind of the coolest dev team I've ever heard of. Ever. They have a good sense of balance, a great sense of what makes games fun, and a FANTASTIC sense of humor.
it is on but its not a giant hit box type of aim assist , its more like a weak magnet and it angers me whenever it activates, especially when im a tank i play with the xbox controller , is there a way to disable this aim assist?
Seeing how TF2 on the 360 died, whereas the PC didn't, I'm guessing Uber enabled Aim-Assist so that people on 360 can transfer over to the PC.
Thats good to go know. Its the same aim assist that is used in BC2 for the xbox as well. Your crosshair movement slows when its over a target and goes back to normal when off. Not just snap capabilities like aim assist of yesteryear.
