As part of my continuing attempts to create unusual, but still reasonably effective, pro builds I've struck upon a different kind of sniper. I've yet to face somebody else employing this tactic, so I thought I'd post and spread the good word. Gold: Speed Silver: Armour Bronze: Skill Recovery I see among that guides that Sensitivepsycho has followed a similar philosophy i.e. "fun"; however, he took a slightly different slant (Gold: Armour; Silver: Skill; Bronze: RoF) I'm too lazy to write a full guide, but here's the jist of things: Primarily - This class is great at map control - Terrible at bots, in public games this can be a real problem - Great at hassling pros for your team mates benefit and getting assists Some Specifics -You can comfortably escape most losing battles -The build forces you to get stuck in and not hang back sniping - You can make great use of traps as you're always in close in useful unexpected places to put them down - You're grapple is great as you have the speed and armour to get in people's faces and ring them out before they can kill you - You can't kill groups of bots very easily, make use of your grapples on bots when you get a quiet moment I've played around with switching armour and speed, but I find it less effective. Upgrades - lvl 2 grapple is essential - lvl 2 traps is essential - I don't usually upgrade the passive at all - If the map is good for ring outs I tend not to go to grapple 3, as it reduces your earnings by killing the hurtling opponent - Traps 3 is great once you can afford it as you'll be using your traps constantly. - Flak is always handy but not essential, I flick between lvl 2 or 3 depending on my riches.
Quick question, where did you go on the LB? You always were a few spots above me, now I can't seem to find you.
I've not been playing as much recently, I expect I've taken a nose dive. I never really kept tabs on my rank
Having Speed Endorsments are sort of useless becaus eyou can pick them up. I've had success with this SMG Sniper build: Armor/Acc/Clip
The ability to pick up speed endorsements does devalue picking it as one of your 3, but you can't rely on having picked them up all the while, I still find it 'just' worth selecting. I recall reading one of the developers say in a thread many moons ago that they originally tested having all of the endorsements as collectable in the arena, but that it didn't work so they only kept speed. Personally, I'd rather speed could not be collected either.
the thing is if you dont have gold speed you need to grab at least 3 speed pickups to equal this build. Its almost impossible to get 3 grapple kills in a row and keep a kill streak vs competent players. So having gold speed makes it easier to move around the map and sneak attack lol grapple people from behind
I almost feel that you would have a lot more fun if you done this build with the assault, primarily with Lv 3 charge instead. Amen.
F5in and I do this on Ammo Mule - get passive 2 and charge 2 off the start, and then straight to charge 3. So much fun uppercutting snipers off the map
I went there some time back, but I tend to find this a lot more gratifying. The ice traps really add to the fun.
It's actually viable to run Gold Speed with this, as the difference it makes to the Sniper's jump distance and his ability to escape tricky situations is brilliant. That said, I normally get lucky with an Assassin dropping a few Fast Feet early on in my life.
