So I was playing a game today. We were on the LazerRazor map and the other team had a sniper who just sat on the upper ring the whole game. Now he wasn't much of a problem in terms of the game itself but whenever someone would get close to him he'd just run inside the spawn to where you couldn't get to him. Ive also seen this happen on Ammo Mule Arena where a Sniper posts up by one of the bottom exits (by the bot spawn) and just backs up into the safe area when someone gets close.

Now I have no problem with the squishy classes running to get away. But to be able to use that room as a safe house once youve come out of it is just very annoying. Spawn camping isnt a good argument either since you have 5 different exits to choose from.

So what if they made the spawn room an exit only? Making it to where you can only leave the room but going back into it would just be like hitting a wall.

That would probably be a little harsh. Those people camping their doorways can be frustrating but they don't do much to change the game.

This would be rather grand! Exit-only spawns would be a way to prevent cowards from actively searching shelter inside it. Though there might be some problems arising from this.

But, I say, this appear to be the wrong section, I think?

Snipers are the only class that can really abuse this to the hilt. Everyone else would have their effective range cut short by it, and if you're getting beaten back into your base like that you're gonna lose.

I agree that they should be exit only

Unless going back in automatically put you in the choose class screen

I can agree with this. Make games that should finish quickly actually finish quickly. Once you lose control of your upper ring you should be pretty much done instead of safely able to spam and retreat.

Plus it might actually force people to attempt to defend instead of protecting their KDR in last ditch efforts. Not likely sadly. They'll just watch their team burn to save 1/1000 of a point on their career screen.

I dunno, I think if you have someone afraid to step 2 feet from the spawn door they are only marginally more effective than someone actually respawning and without the opertunity to switch class. I'd say that's victory enough. Pressure him a bit, wreck the turrets whilst being mindful of him, then stare at him angrily whilst your bots take down the ball.

It very important to look very grim and unhappy when you stare at him, it lets him know he should be scared. Grim Beardliness is optimal.

That would be the JRaw style of play IIRC.

Otherwise, meh, let him be there. Don't have a problem with that. Not like he is actually helping his team.

I think the big question is: Should players be allowed to reenter the spawn to protect their killstreaks and juice?

Many times I have been on the run to survive (with all classes), if necessary I will retreat to the spawn room to regain my health and protect my streaks/juice.

Of course hiding out in that room puts one less player on the field giving the enemy a temporary advantage. But hopefully stocking up on streaks and juice will push the enemy back in the long run.

I think the system is fine the way it is, especially since you can't shoot out of your spawn. I bet Uber already put a lot of thought into this and won't change anything. On the other hand, keeping us out of our spawn wouldn't be so bad because it would force us to build a better tower defense if we want to retreat.

I've used said rooms before like this, partly because I was about to be fully juiced when our moneyball crashed and suddenly caught in a VERY tight pincher attack.

If I didn't use that and try to stop their bits from getting in more, we would have lost outright I feared, but a smart ebb and weave of making use of the home side advantage ( the fact that you have a base to hide in and not take any damage while inside of it ) let me get enough juice to then push everyone out and let us get back in the game instead of it being a TOTAL shutout.

The Problem of throwing yourself at the other team is that by the time they revive, they chances are got 500+ cash, and you are chances are just trying to crawl out from around your own moneyball to attack back with very little cash of your own. So they will buy juice, come back, and lay down more pain. And chances are after HAT juice if you all still threw yourself at them, would give them even MORE moola to guess what? Do it AGAIN.

How do I know? Because I've been the jerk who's done such towards teams before hand, inclduing teams who think it's good to rush out the center entrance when moneyballs under attack ( you guys give best kill streaks ever... ), and it's not even JUST the low levels who do this, I've seen lv 80+'s 4 star's still rush out there, die, and then rush out there AGAIN, to die AGAIN.

Making the base exit's an 'Exit only' type of ordeal would only cement the pubstomping harder honestly, and I don't think many of us ether doing, or receiving enjoy a no win situation.

I would say remove some of the exits. The lower ones on grenade III come to mind. No one actually walks down them i find and they are only used for snipers to hide.

Do any other maps have this problem?

Tbh i think most people don't even know you can walk out them and they only know about them to hide from attackers.

I use these when the upper ring is camped. I've found it much easier to defend when hitting the campers from an exit they don't expect.

Making exits one-way could potentially reduce the number of people that hide there to avoid ruining their KDR (IE the ones that literally ignore bots/teammates in need of help/etc). It would also hurt helpful teammates, though. :\

If those guys keep hiding in spawn like pansies they're pretty much as effective as a pseudo-afk player. Let the guy play more to eventually grow a pair instead of completely shutting him out of his comfort zone.

Also lower entrances are required when you have those eggplant tanks or gunners who decide to deploy right in front of the entrance.
