I love the Assault Nerf.

    Now I'm not going "OMFG They have an assault! If he knows how to press E and Shift efficiently we're screwed..." and instead i'll go "OMFG They have an assault! Oh well now that the long awaited nerf has arrived it's okay."

    - I won't get bomb spammed in a rapid succession anymore
    - I won't see the Assault escape with their lives hanging in 1 pixel as frequently anymore
    - I won't sacrifice myself to detonate a vital area denying bomb only to have a second bomb slapped at the same spot one second later.

    Thank you Uber! Thank you Scathis! For finally balancing this class! :D

    As an Assault Player, this nerf suits me just fine as well.

    I agree for the most part but after listening to some of the arguments here I would say he was nerfed too much.

    In the first line you imply you're not an assault, then in the last you say that you are. Chances are you're lying and just want assaults to be free kills. Sorry, but "balance" isn't when you're able to kill everything without a challenge.

    Disclaimer: I am a casual, pub player and not one of the uber-leet.

    I used to play assault before this patch, but now I find myself dying a lot more often than I used to. I never used to have a good k/d ratio but I used to push the bot lanes well.
    My bomb was used defensively (ie: when i'm in trouble I used it to cover my escape) and I used charges _mostly_ to get away (or kill a frontgrappling assassin).

    After the patch I find myself unable to escape as the charge is always on cooldown and the bomb is now completely useless as a defensive item. By the time it's armed the enemy has already passed it and is still in your face.

    The nerf may not have been bad for your style of play but it has killed the assault for my style of play. I switched to the gunner and doubled my k/d ratio, kill more turrets and (since i now actually survive) kill about the same number of bots (still not as many as pre-nerf assault though).

    I loved your arrogant attitude assault, but you've changed and I'm leaving you.

    Most people agreed that assault was only OP in his moneyball damage. However suddenly he became this "unstoppable force" after the patch nerfing him was released. People sure like re-writing histor

    ^^ this, assault damage to pro's has always been pretty ****, unless they are close range and you hit them with you ar, people are just enjoying that he is an easy kill now

    This update didn't kill the assault, it just makes the people that play him have to use the bomb for purposes other than traps and to choose whether to use the charge for mobilily, damage, or escape. Look at that Xeno player, he has been fine playing assault without armor for a long time so the armor fix doesn't effect him. He uses the bomb as a weapon by throwing it ahead and detonating a few seconds later so this update benefited him with the recharge increase. The charge nerf just means you have to alread have a plan of escape thought out and you have to make use of cover.

    Simply put:
    Use the bomb as a weapon and not just as a defense tool
    Don't rely on you charge for escape, think of using cover or have a plan already thought out
    Get the drop on your enemies by attacking from wierd angles.

    ... Where did I say I am not an assault player? Either I typed it confusingly or chances are you simply don't understand the first line that is in fact implying my thoughts if I see that the opposing team has an assault or not. :|

    All classes do pretty **** damage against pros! When there's a bad player controlling said class.

    Yeah. I think the biggest problem here isn't that the assault has become underpowered, it's that he used to allow a wide range of play styles and now has a much more focussed play style.
    Everyone who used to be more defensive has to completely relearn the class or simply suck.

    I can't say if this is good or bad empirically, but I can say that it's bad for me. I went from an ok assault to downright sucking so I switched to a different class. It's a pity because I really liked the assault's attitude but I just don't play the way he's meant to be played now.

    They did, the made the assault so that ot finally has a some what of a couter and that is a heavy class at close range or any class at close range realy. As stated in the other thread, keep towards mid range and you will have some easier kills.

    Try some Support. I always take Support when I can't make up my mind on what to play. I'm not very good but he is hilarious to play and so much fun! Make sure you use his taunts for maximum lulz... :3

    I love how when you taunt in the middle of reloading his shotgun the gun model guys all freaked out.

    I am sort of seeing why Uber did this. Even with the nerfing, I still find myself wishing I had chose Assault at the beginning of games, because having a good one is just so important to winning.

    Yeah. I've taken up the gunner and now do it tiki style, and doubled my k/d ratio in doing so. I'm not as mobile and don't kill as many bots but I mow down pros and wipe out turrets so it's not all bad :D
    And one of the first things I do when tryong out a new class is check the taunts :lol: always fun

    People over on steam were QQ'ing about gold ROF being OP for the assault, but fail to realize that gold ROF was default on the assault build lol

    money ball damage needed a nerf with the bomb.
    I also agree that the bomb charging up again while deployed was OP. (although they should have let it charge halfway while deployed)

    however, the slower cooldown for the charge AND a slow charge speed in general was not needed.

    The TANK charges faster and his skills cool down much faster. For someone who is big and slow and does massive damage, he is able to deal out that damage quite consecutively
