If not, why not? Gives a good place for all players to talk and share experiences and organize matches, from what I can tell only clans have IRC channels.
Yeah, we're a rather slow community, I'm afraid. Start one up and people might give it a try, you never know.

You just made a topic on how to get good and that this was your first shooting game. Why jump into something you are clearly not prepared for?
How is wanting to talk to people about the game, have a few discussions and maybe play a few games to see strategy "jumping into it"? You get quicker and more detailed replies than you do on forums so why not?
i think it doesn't matter how good he is to want to help this game do some community stuff like IRC. a steam group would also be nice, considering the official one is full of people who are mostly playing black ops.
IRC is generally used for organized scrims and such. It sounds like you are talking about something like the forums but in chat form, my mistake. I have to cosign to what the other poster said, If the forums are slow the IRC would be dead.
wow you guys really do not know what you are talking about, the irc chan has been there for months, it is starting to dwindle now but i think mainly cos people are playing other games. And we had 2 one for pugs/scrims one for chat about anything.
