I don't find the time to play my xbox at home enough anymore to justify my Gold account renewal. Add to that the fact that MNC is the only game I still play over xbox live (L4D is dead ) so it's just really not worth it. I've been thinking about the pro's of getting the PC version of MNC like the updates and dedicated servers, but I have some concerns that might be deal breakers for me. Do a lot of PC players even with great hardware and connections still experience lag? Are 7/10 lobbies that you go into pubstomps or is this not an issue yet since the PC version is newer? Do a majority of players experience the disconnection issues I read about in the 1st sticky in the feedback section? Do any of you xbox 360 veterans find it easier to switch to playing with mouse and keyboard after getting used to it or do you still feel more comfortable plugging your xbox controller into your computer? I think that about covers my concerns before I pull the trigger on getting the pc version, thanks in advance for any info/advice!
I experience no lag. My hardware is 4 years old now. People have the ability to play together on the PC version, but not nearly as much as on the 360 version where you just make a party. No, connection issues are not rampant. If you feel better with a controller, go for it, but realize you are legitimately at a disadvantage when going against people with mouses and keyboards. Try to use them.
1. Lag affects me indirectly because only 2-6 servers show up that are under 100 ping (Toronto, Canada). As for ingame lag, nah, not so much. 2. I'd have to say maybe. As of late, the team I join either crushes the opposing team within minutes or becomes cannon fodder. This can be attributed to the lack of servers to change to, as well as the steep learning curve. 3. Not me. During the first week though, hell yes. Disconnect issues kinda died for me after the first patch. 4. Never played Monday Night Combat on console, but popular opinion states that mouse and keyboard rips console gamers a new one every time.
It's been proven that mouse + keyboard is better than controller, because the mouse has more control as to how far you want to turn and how fast you want to turn there. Not a lot of console players will admit it, and hearing it from a PC player just makes us sound elitist. Play how you want, but you're honestly at a disadvantage with a controller.
in fairness to the controller (i am a mouse and keyboard user) if you are used to the controller, you can still do extremely well with using it, since this game isn't really a twitch shooter a controller will be fine, just use what you prefer
I'm going to assume you mean frame rate drops since you are talking about hardware. Frame rate drops are significantly reduced if not all together gone on the PC I play on. Pub stomping is not AS bad on the PC yet, in my experience. Check out the Steam names thread and add a bunch of friends to avoid being pub stomped. Most of these issues have been addressed, i almost never get disconnected unless the server crashes. I cannot get used to the KB+M. I'll admit it's better, but I just can't get used to it. I just plug in my XBOX 360 controller and play away. The only class that suffers greatly from controller use is the sniper, since they cut down his ammo count for the PC version and lowered body shot damage. The gunner and tank a lil bit, since you can't aim + fly at the same time. (unless you claw) Aside from that, it's fine. Case in point, if you know how to play games with the KB+M do it. If not, MNC for the PC plays just fine with a controller.
Thanks everyone, I'd have to say that's convincing enough for me. I'll see you all on steam soon. The only thing that sucks is that I'm giving up the 2 million I've already earned on the xbox version, but oh well a fresh start is a good thing sometimes.
If you're from the 360 you should already know the ropes, try to become a part of the community and play with friends. Most randoms will just infuriate you, whether they're being bad or talking ****. I dunno how bad gaming is on the 360 the random players are usually huge jackasses.
my biggest gripe with randoms on the 360 is their inability to push bots or even realize that it's part of the game. I assume they play because they need a quick break from CoD. If the teams are not in my favor I often pick assassin and focus solely on juice rushing the turrets and picking up a few SAFE kills if the opportunity presents itself. The randoms then do nothing to support that effort  dont get me wrong, I do care about KDR, it makes my head swell when I end a game with a huge KDR AND win. It does absolutely nothing for me, though, if I have a huge KDR and lose the match. I'd say I balance the fun of the game pretty well in both aspects.
