I don't understand that either. I spent $46 on PA ($30 for the original game, $13 for Titans) and I've played hundreds of hours, that's a super cheap source of entertainment / fun.
    That's mind boggling.

    Agreed although $30 + $13.... isn't that $43 total...?

    Edit: /pedantic comment, sorry :p

Haha good call, the ratio of $/hour is even better than I thought then!

I was intrigued by that claim.

    I investigated via Steamcharts

PA has a combined steamchart playercount for February of 363.9

8-Bit * has a combined steamcharts playercount (across all six 8-bit steamapps!) of 86.2

Ashes of the Singularity has a combined steamcharts playercount of 114.7

Grey Goo has a steamcharts playercount of 42.2

Homeworld has a steamcharts playercount of 222.2

Deserts of Kharak has a steamcharts playercount of 68.5

Act of Aggression has a steamcharts playercount of 77.3

    Anything I missed?

I find it sad the current state of RTS, it has always been my favourite genre.
However, I guess it isn't that nowadays less people play RTS but that the number of players playing other kinds of games has grown a lot.
I'm happy PA is doing better than those other RTSs, as it is more ambitious and innovative.

The rise of MOBAs and F2P have cannibalized the audience.

What you would like to see in a next expansion of PA? To me: bigger planet and a second faction.

This can't be better said. We have a game developper here in France called Frederic Raynal, who has developped "Alone in the Dark", "Little Big Adventure" .... and he has come up with an old-school horror game called 2dark.
The game has been partly founded through crowd funding. It's not doing well and because the lack of budget they had to get a game publisher (BigBen Interractive). So the game came out with DRM (The game publisher wanted the game to be denuvo protected). Devs had promised during they crowdfunding campaign there would be no DRM. And now they are suffering bashing from Ignorant people who don't kown at all what the game industry reality is. They should watch "Indie Game the Movie" to get a slight picture of what developping a game means ...

With PA, not only i got one of the most impressive RTS ever done, but i've been through a journey i don't regret at all.

I think the case with 2dark is quite different. People didn't just found the game, they pre purchased it under the understanding that it wouldn't have DRM. Not having DRM isn't a feature they have to develop; it isn't like promising, for example, multi screen support and eventually being unable to deliver.
I understand that maybe that was their only option to publish the game but they should have given the option to refound to those who bought it under the assumption of no DRM.

Which then would've eaten into the required funding to build the game in the first instance? Seems a bit counterproductive.

A poor situation to be in all-round, really. There's no easy way out there.

That said, I think the point was more the unfounded negativity and / or claims subsequently made by fans, as supposed to constructive criticism which we know is a necessary part of offering feedback on a product.
