Dunno why, but I managed to play like 6 games of SMNC over the weekend. Nostalgia hit -hard-, so came to see how the nostalgia forum is doing
it's actually more of an immortal forum. it's most alive section is the off-topic and I see no reason for it to ever cease being active. it's a really practical place to discuss stuff and we have our regulars still sticking around. we talk about all sorts of games in this thread
Unfortunately I'm cutting costs, and paid games were one of the first things to go. Added to my steam wishlist for sure though once I have more expendable income. On the topic of free games though, I finally got around to trying out AM2R. The fan remake of Metroid 2. Anybody who enjoys action 2d platformers should play it.
http://www.pcgamer.com/starbound-to-revamp-space-travel-in-future-update They're still updating it, apparently. Here I thought it went full abandonware.
so I bought this one. And it plays on linux (and even steam controller) like a champ And it's entertaining as hell. Most finalized early access I've ever seen.
I backed Distance on KS way back when, but there was an error that cancelled my order I'm gonna wait for release to get it now. I loved Nitronic Rush, I hope Distance has as many crazy wall runs and ceiling hops. Those were awesome.
http://www.polygon.com/2017/3/26/15064174/starcraft-brood-war-free-blizzard-version-118 these guys are seriously out of ideas and have been for a long time
I had a rant about this on the pa discord. Apparently people are hyped because its effectively remained untouched? So people are looking forward to broken pathing ai because it requires "skill" to work around? (I've actually heard people say this) What!? What kind of broken logic are these people using? I expected a full port to their newer engine with new assets and everything (So up to date/modern campaign cutscenes and all that as well) and instead we get this lazy half assed resolution update. What gets me is the fact that people are applauding it. Truly Blizzard can do no wrong. If any other company dared to do this the community would absolutely smash them.
this is exactly what gets me worked up about people praising non-FAF vanilla sup com pre-FA above all else. They say that nerfing assist to nuke for example is an offense to the purity of the assist system. they'd prefer the restorer in it's original state. they don't care much for performance optimizations brought on by engi-mod they hate that it changed the dev's work. "They ruined it!" basically....
