Hi, I've been playing this game for a few hours now and I really enjoy it, but I have a problem, I can't win games.

I mainly play assassin, because it's the class that I enjoy playing the most and it's the class that I feel I can do most damage with. After reading these forums I've noticed that assassin the the "1337 wannabe" class in this game and I can understand if your say "play a different class". But instead of saying that, could you please help me win games with the assassin class?
My endorsements for the class is Armor/skill recharge/speed, but I've heard that rate of fire is good so I'm gonna try that out. When a game starts I upgrade passive and dash first, then passive again to get the sword, then cloak, when I got those I just pick what I feel works best for the situation.
When I play I mainly go after players but I kill bots if they get too close/none is looking.
When I get in line of fire of a turret I get my shuriken launcher out and kill it. When the moneyball shields are down I try to get into the enemy base fast and attack it. I really try to win games but I just can't, is this just bad luck or is it me?

I also have a few questions:

    Are gremlins worth the 100$?
Can you destroy the moneyball shield with bullets/shurikens?

If you could help me get better at the game I'd be really happy. :D

You'll probably get a lot of views and not a lot of responses as there are numerous threads with tactics in them. Check those first then come back and post any specific questions that might still remain.

I have read some tactics and I'll try to get better, but I still don't understand why I lose 90% of the games I'm in. I guess I'm just really unlucky.

There could be a few reasons. I'll start by answering your question about shields: no. Only bots can drop the moneyball shields, so don't even bother with it unless it is down.

Always always ALWAYS remember the goals of the game. This is true for any class. Many players when they start playing treat it like Team Deathmatch, but it isn't. Your k/d ratio doesn't matter. I've gotten MvP as a Tank with a 12/26 kdr because I had turret and bot kills coming out of my *** (though that's an uncommon case  ).

The Assassin is very good at taking out bot waves. If the other team has a bunch of players on one side of the map, go to the other and clear the waves for your bots. Keep a close eye out, though. If an enemy player comes to stop your fun, cloak and get away before stabbing him in the back. If several come, leave and go to the other side. Never attack a group of 3 or more players, even if you pick one off the others will most likely kill you before you can get away. Your targets are the lone wolves or players in the backfield.

My favorite Sponsors are the following:
    • +Juice: With a full juice bar, you can and should wreck enemy turrets
    • +Armor: You're so fragile, every little bit helps
    • +Skill Recharge: Your skills are your life, so having them available more often is great
    • +Health Recharge: See Armor.

For skill build, I usually start with passive and cloak lvl 2, then passive to lvl 3 and cloak to lvl 3 before anything else, then max out smokebomb. Some games I never touch dash, depending on cash flow. There's other (and probably better!) builds, of course, but that's my preference.

Gremlins are very useful and worth the money. Do it if you have $100 kicking around after your core (stealth and passive).

Also, don't neglect Ejectors and the Annihilator. The Ejector will destroy all bots in its area and often rings out players who are there, too. You can often ninja people this way since you can hang out by the ejector while stealthed. They pay for themselves if you're smart.

Lastly: you might want to avoid being an assassin in the Steel Peel arena. It's so open it makes it difficult to be effective, imo.

Now go forth and conquer (hopefully)!

Assassins are great for taking out bots and turrets behind enemy lines; use that ability. Bots you can more or less just hack through, and since the objective of the game is to push your own bots into your enemy's base, you rob the other team of a lane of bots that way. Great for cash/juice too, and when you're juiced you can just plow through 2-3 turrets in the enemy base. When the jackbot is up, he's your main objective since you can drop him really compared to other classes by using a grapple.

Turrets are a little trickier but still not particularly hard. If you can comfortably shoot from a range just sit to the side and fire shurikens at them. You'll be amazed how quickly those ninja stars drop a turret. Alternately, you can use your smokebomb to stun the turret while you hack it up close. That second method has the advantage of being far less noticeable and predictable, but I feel that it's a bit slower.

You can't be trying to take on enemy players constantly. The point isn't to get the most kills but to get your bots to the moneyball. Killing players doesn't even earn you the most cash postgame, I've had plenty of games where I go 6/3/7 or something and end up with the most cash from all my turret and bot kills. There are certain players you should be killing though, so I'll go through a few of them:

    • Gunners who are wrecking from a safe location. You can't grapple when they're deployed but you can get behind them. Open out of cloak with a charging slash and then slash a couple times since it takes them a moment to come out of deploy. Smokebomb and jump or charge away before they do their ground slam against you, and then just come right back at them to clean up the kill. Or just grapple them if they're not deployed.
    • Snipers. Smart ones lay traps so you can't easily just walk up to them, but you've got that wonderful smokebomb jump that lets you land right on top of them. Do that, grapple, and taunt their corpse. If you miss the grapple don't stick around, they'll just grapple you.
    • Anyone in a stupid position. Assaults and Supports are both easy kills if you catch them napping in a bad spot. Tanks you can do significant damage to by opening up with a charging slash and then grappling. Make sure you get away immediately after landing or missing the grapple because they'll murder you if you don't. You most likely won't be getting many kills against them this way, but assists are nice too, and you can make them wait to recharge. I've been split from my party in a few games, and our resident tank lover complains that I'm the only assassin who ever caused his death, even when I didn't actually kill him myself.
    • Other assassins. If you find one, kill her. If you miss your grapple, just walk away and call out her location.

Make sure you spend any spare cash on turrets for your base, and remember that the gremlins are probably the best spawned bots out of all the classes since they're invisible and tiny.

It's all about learning to prioritize your targets, and you'll find that other players are very low on the Assassin's priority list if you're playing well. That's the biggest mistake I see other assassins making, they'll try to go after other players constantly and just plain get wrecked while earning no money to upgrade themselves and feeding the other team cash. I also rarely see other assassins using the shurikens. They're awesome, use them.

I know this is my first post on this forum, but all this has worked for me really well for the last few days.

Thanks for the replies! I guess I have to focus more on bots and turrets.

I have also found out that shurikens against a deployed gunner/tank is great, you can kill a gunner in 2-3 mags, a tank takes a bit longer to kill but it still works good.

Yup. Shurikens are way overlooked by the noobish Assassin community. Lots of other things are overlooked, like the fact that you die from a slap on the cheek followed by a light breeze. Watching bad Assassins.

Let us know if your win% starts going up :)

The assassins main role is taking out whatever it is that's blocking a lane form being pushed - often turrets, or Gunners/Supports, or just waves of bots.

Hats off to everyone telling people how classes work with certain builds, because I'll admit before I read these forums today I was one of the noob assassins feed money to the enemy team. Much love for these forums.

Yes he does, there's bots everywhere he isn't.
