Planetary Annihilation: Titans Crash on startup.

Hi, my friend recently gifted me this game and I was really excited. But when I started it up, it said that pa.exe has stopped working. I have looked everywhere, and nothing thinks my drivers are out of date, even though the date mentioned on DirectX Diagnostic tool is 19/02/13 . I have tried everything I can think of. Can anyone help?
