I'm having problems with PA Titans. The game renders incorrectly most of the time. Artifacts of different colors appear everywhere, and planets are sometime rendered in white or black.

    System specs:
Pentium G4400 dual-core processor (I know that this is a bottleneck)
    AMD R9 380X
    16GB DDR4 RAM
    OS: Solus OS 1.2
    Mesa version: 12.0.0-rc4
    OpenGL Version: 4.1 (core profile)
    Kernel: 4.4.14
OpenGL renderer: Gallium 0.4 on AMD TONGA (DRM 3.1.0 / 4.4.14, LLVM 3.8.0)

    Extra info: Using --software-ui renders start menu in black 20160628233108_1.jpg 20160628233123_1.jpg 20160628233159_1.jpg 20160628233219_1.jpg 20160628233330_1.jpg 20160628233404_1.jpg 20160628233413_1.jpg

That's pretty cutting edge drivers. Could you try again with --software-ui? Then when you get the black screen, can you try switching to windowed mode? I think the shortcut for that is <Alt>+<Enter>, but I'm not entirely sure. Does that make the black screen go away? If not, what happens if you resize the window?

Nothing happens (it switches to windowed mode) when trying alt + enter or resizing the window (using --software-ui)

Can you try starting PA outside of Steam? That will make PA load the system libraries instead of the much older libraries that come with Steam. You may need to make a symlink from libudev.so.0 to libudev.so.1. That library can usually be found in /usr/lib64, /lib64, or /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu depending on your distribution of choice. Not sure about Solus. Try both with and without --software-ui.

To start PA outside of Steam, go here: "~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Planetary Annihilation"

How can i make that symbolic link? I don't know how to do that
Extra: Steam on Solus uses native runtime by default
The game starts without the need of that symlink outside of steam, --software-ui makes start menu black.

Can you also post a log for when your run PA with --software-ui?
And don't worry about the symbolic link. If PA is not complaining about a missing libudev.so.0, then it's fine.

Same issue here with RadeonSI drivers and software-ui. Is there any workaround known for this issue?

--software-ui was the workaround for this. But now with the black screen, I'm not sure what else there could be. Maybe @SXX has any ideas if he's still around.

I am also having this issue on latest stable mesa (12.0) and radeonsi under Fedora 24.

When I launch with --software-ui I get the black screen, resizing does not fix

Launching without steam ./PA --software-ui gives

    ERROR:render_widget_host_view_gtk_coherent.cc(289)] Unable to get
    backing store!

Where is the best place to log this as a bug?

Having this same problem too. Had to delete the libgcc, libstdc+, libgpg-error libs from the static steam libs folder just to get the game to launch. Since mesa 12.0 onward it has the green artifacts and --software-ui does not work and it did work before mesa 12.00. At this point totally stumped on why newer versions of mesa causing --software-ui to fail. Running radeon 7750 with RadeonSi drivers, also tried with amdgpu same result.
