Was watching towards the end, his economy was really bad in the last match I just saw. He had a cool strat with these invisible units, but he ended up losing it.

Grey Goo has such a small player count already? What happened?... It has 92 players atm while PA:T has 400. That's insane. Especially considering Grey Goo is having a tournament with a group of casters, interviews, etc.

what's insane is you compare all that to how big FAF's player base is. and it already has all the personnel you need for a pro tourney and we host them and they get pro coverage yet people rather watch grey goo.

    Grey Goo had three problems:
    Too expensive
Goo is the only interesting faction
Not enough maps or content at release

Commiserations to Matiz, but he still walks away with some cash, plus a free trip to the US, so not too shabby. The favourite to win didn't make it any further either. Still, I think he'll be bitterly disappointed he didn't make it to the final. Perhaps I'm out of touch, but I'm amazed to see a human player there, I thought it would be all goo or maybe all goo and one beta.

I suspect he'll also have some things to say about the format. Given the nature of how the game plays I'm gobsmacked they've got rounds this deep seeing only one match determine the outcome.

Well at least he lost to the player who went on to win the whole thing.

Offtopic a free expansion has been announced that adds a new faction and campaign.

    Edit:
And yeah congrats matiz on getting that far.

I'm watching all the matches of this tournament (Grey Goo), and aside for seeing way too much Goos, the game seems sound. Too bad isn't for Mac (yet?).

How is the campaign? I'm more a campaign kind of player...

The campaign is pretty middle-of-the-road. Never really ends up amounting to much of anything, though the CGI stuff is nicely done. I did like Lucy Tak, someone who felt like a real person.

I'd advise skipping the DLC Emergency campaign which I didn't think worth it at all.

Just why the colors of players on the map, on the units, and on the Stats are always all wrong and confusing? That's hilarious, can't believe the devs didn't find a way to make this part a bit more straight forward.

Apparently Matiz lost cause his opponent was using an exploit.

story of every other tourney basically.

but Grey Goo is in my opinion a very unfinished game released and pushed onto the pro-gaming scene with swathes of money.

The patch yesterday seems to improve the game a lot. I guess we'll see as the new meta develops whether or not this balance is better than the last.

Any comments about the new faction, the Shroud? I wonder if finalists will use it, or if they will stick with Goos.
