Hello everybody, I am new at Planetary Annihilation and played it for approximatly 6 hours the Galactic War Mode. It's a lot of Fun, but it seams that after 10 to 20 Minutes it crashes. Sometimes it lead to bluescreens with the hint something... Memory. After some crashes I started to save the game. I saw a Multiplayer Battle on youtube which runs over an half an hour without a crash. So the Game can run stable. My Hardware: Core i5 750 Quadcore @3,41 GHz 8 GB Ram nVidia GTX960 4GB Video Ram OS: Windows 10 Pro 64Bit Build 10586.71 Coud it be that the new Windows update is responsible for the non proper run of PA? I read that the Win-Dev's changes something in the memory management. I tryed to uninstall the last update, but it dosen't have an effect. PA crashes futher. Should I change the OS or do I need more Ram or something else. I am grateful for Ideas.
Blue screen usually indicated bad hardware or bad drivers. It usually doesn't have anything to do with the program, other than that it can trigger it. The next time the blue screen happens, can you write down the exact error message? Also, just in case, can you upload a DxDiag.txt as well? To make one, press <WinKey>+R, type "dxdiag", and press "Save All Information...". Then upload the resulting file here using the "Upload a File" button on this forum.
Thank you for the fast response. I did it and upload the DxDiag.txt file. I tryed to set up the Win 7 compatibility mode and I had some rounds whitout a crash. But the game becomes a bit laggy. Without the Win 7 compatibility mode it runs smooth.
The blue screens are disconcerting though. There are a few reports about it in the DxDiag.txt and they are all over the place. That makes me think you may have faulty memory. Could you try testing it with a memory test tool? You can get one here: http://memtest.org/#downiso You load it on an USB stick and then boot your computer from that. It does take a bit of time to run it though, as in hours.
Hi again, I made the Memtest run. After over 2 hours single core usage the Test No. 10 passed and there was no error. The program goes on to Test No. 1 and so on. I made a picture "after2h.jpg". Then I tryed the program option F2 Force Multi Core and approximately after 3 Minutes there were 5 errors and then the pc freezes (ref. pic "after2MinForceQuadCore.jpg") . I interpret that in this way: my pc produces errors in multi thread tasks due to overclocking. But my memory should work fine.
So now I run my CPU and Ram in default settings. 2,67 GHz and 800 MHz double date rate. I spend some hours in PA Galactic War on Win 10 without a crash. It runs stabel and at the begin without lags. Just when a couple thousand units are on the way I get lags. A solution would be to outsource the calculations on the graphics card or to a second one. Because Graphics cards are more powerfull then cpus. But my problem is solved. Thank you very much for your support.
Yeah, the single core test means your memory is ok. The multi core feature of Memtest86+ seems to be a bit broken for some people though, so I wouldn't read too much into that. Though if you did overclocking, you might want to try disabling that anyway, just to make sure that isn't causing the issues you have with PA. I may also be the source of the blue screens you are having. Could you also check the list of software known to cause issues? You can find that here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/233250/discussions/2/558751813508748383/ If that doesn't work, can you try doing a clean boot? Instructions for that are here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135/
Dear DeathByDenim, no I don't use these software in the steamlist. But now after runing my pc on default settings I can play without any issues. I want to thank you for your advice.
