New ping display is all lies

    The pings displayed don't seem to have any relation to reality

    I joined a server in Spain from Texas, and it still showed a ping around 35. Considering that light at full speed would take 57.3ms to make a round trip, I'm pretty sure that number of the scoreboard is meaningless.

    I've noticed this too, mostly because it is a little hard to believe that a server that has a ping of 60 to me in the server browser suddenly has 13 when I'm in game.

    I think UnrealEngine has had this issue for years where your listed ingame ping is like 1/4th of actual

    not really any point showing the wrong pings, better off the way it was before.

    Yeah I noticed this too when I joined a 70 ping and had 10 in game.

    I honestly dont care though because this is one of those games ive found that ping really doesnt seem to effect the play. atleast not me

    only thing i notice is assault grenades not doing damage sometimes on direct contact but that seems to happen anywhere not just high ping servers

    It depends a lot on what class you play.

    Hitscan weapons like rifles are virtually unaffected, except in severe lag.

    If you're using projectile weapons like the grenade or mortar launchers, you can feel a bit of delay before the projectile actually launches, making it more difficult to score direct hits on moving targets.

    Close-range interactions suffer the most. Who wins grapples, and whether counter-grapples connect can depend a lot on the lag conditions. Charge can behave badly when one player lags, with some charges connecting when they don't appear to or not connecting when they look like they should.

    The worst victim of lag is the assassin's reload lunge. With no lag (only if you're hosting) it always goes a consistent distance. It stops on a dime as soon as you contact an enemy. Add in even a tiny bit of lag, and the distance/speed of the lunge becomes inconsistent. You start sliding past enemies instead of stopping immediately on contact. Sometimes it sends you flying off edges unexpectedly, sometimes it goes almost nowhere at all, and sometimes you end up on the wrong side of an enemy or group of enemies. In a typical XBOX360 peer-hosted game, the lag effects on lunge made the assassin virtually unplayable for me. On the PC with typically sub-70ms pings to dedicated servers, these issues still exist, but they are relatively minor.

    the tanks jet gun also seems to be affected by ANY lag even if im in a server with a ping of less then 100ms i will get the invisible shield on the opponent for half a second to a second and its a pain

    i live in Australia my average ping is like 60-70 on the servers and on console the average game would of been like 200+ normally anything under 100 is ok to play with in a fps so im relating it to that but most of the time ping is 60-70 even though in game it says 10...which is just a lie and this happens :(

    Buddy of mine out there was getting 250-300 ping in US servers in a few games we've played and he's so used to it he can hold his own against sub-100 ping players

    yer most games i would play on xbox i had major lag but i would still manage to hold up against some decent people, it sucks living in AUS and playing lesser known games, thank god this came to steam

    Back when people asked for ping on the scoreboard I told them it would achieve nothing, my my look at this.

    not really. i played 250+ MNC during beta and it was still more than playable.

    I suck with assasin when my ping goes over ~80. Meele is a harder world then gunfights.
