PA refuses to identify already present 64-bit OS

    I have a problem with PA it only starts in 32-bit but the 64-bit version refuses to start, not crash. The game literally doesn't even start up in 64-bit and I already have Windows 8 64-bit present and 8GB of RAM. My PC was swiped some time ago and yesterday I reinstalled PA but the game only seems to start in 32-bit and refuses to start in 64-bit. So I ask if there is a solution to this problem of mine.

    @nicb1 has just had the same issue I think. Do you have GoG?

    No, I downloaded mine from Uber, the launcher and everything.

    I forgot I had GoG galaxy installed. I was supposed to get rid of it a while back.
