There needs to be a votekick option. Bad players who get 0-20 with their assassins shouldn't be playing in multiplayer.
thats completely wrong in many ways. if they purchased this game, they should be able to play it no matter how bad they are. this is a game, and games are meant to be fun, if the 0-20 assassin is having fun, thats all that matters to him, he doesnt care if he goes 0-20. also, its not like you cant leave the server and find a new one, and its also not like you are playing on a comp server, so just deal with it. and no, im not the assassin that goes 0-20, i dont even play the class. i see no problem with votekick on an AFK person, or a player trying to make his team lose or just a guy being a total ***** either in chat or voice over, but you cant kick a guy just because of a bad score.
If you are deathly allergic to ever playing with bad players, it sounds like you need to join some sort of clan or otherwise get involved in more organized matches. And yes, people have the right to suck at a game and not be kicked for it.
Why? They can switch to another server if they get kicked or host their own, so no problem with this at all.
Exactly. People don't complain as much if their team appears competent. Like just now, I had a gunner on my team with 4-18 and next round he went AFK in our spawn. His name is Sanji. Why should I tolerate this?
You should tolerate that because servers have a 120 second idle timeout. That said, I want votekick to kick elitists who can't stand new players. If you want competitive games with good people; help build the competitive community. Join one of the league teams. Just don't be a twat and ruin things for others.
do you think somebody would be happy if he paid for something, and nearly every time he tried using it, it was taken away from him? its simple, if you dont want to play with bad players, do like others have said already, join a clan or something.
There is a difference between new and stupid. New is someone who is experimenting with different turrets and trying different skills. Stupid is when someone doesn't' build anything, doesn't help the team, and never learns from their mistakes hence why they get 0-20 in their matches. For example, I'm tank, stupid player is assassin. Stupid player always tries to constantly grapple me despite not killing me for the tenth time. Yes, I was new once to MNC, but my scores were at least reasonable like 8-6 or whatever. I would expect players without opposable thumbs to get 0-20.
You don't pay for online mode, you pay for single player mode and get the online mode as a bonus. Or do you mind if you get VAC-banned - "but I payed for it, I wanna play!!!" No, you pay for singleplayer, nothing else.
Searched the forums, to see if there was already a topic about this before creating a new one. There needs to be a votekick in the game (with 60% of the players present agreeing to it). Banning hackers (either through VAC or through reporting) while good as a longer lasting solution, the fact is that it does little to comfort those that have to deal with it on the spot. A majority votekick option, that bans the player from the server for an hour or two, would serve such a purpose. Eventually, they might stop cheating just because they get vote kicked out of every viable server. Then, a VAC ban can nail them later on. Overall, them getting banned later does nothing to help with them ruining the game -now-. There needs to be a two prong solution. One to minimize damage as its happening (votekicking), and the other to stop further damage (perma ban). Insofar, only one solution is being enacted (the latter), and that is simply not enough for controlling the quality of the game play when admins are not present.
Easy solution, don't play on pubs, set up your own dedicated server, password it, and only invite what you consider to be "pro" players. Votekicking is terrible, and has great potential for griefing, and I can guarantee that if ever available, it will not be enabled on any of the 4 deds I run.
Also, just for fun, imagine 6 friends joining a server, they can votekick everyone but themselves, and hey presto, "private" server, kicking anyone who joins. I've seen it happen (Trackmania and TF2), and this is why I always disable this option on my servers.
This is a great example, another is L4D 1&2 : Join a game... vote to kick... you have been kicked Why? Why not. Maybe they didn't like your name, maybe they're booting for fun. Don't give people the tools to be a-holes  The timeout by itself is fine. Giving the power to kick people can be grieftastic.
There are problems with that. One, not everyone can host a private server, because of fickle port forwarding. Two, and this is more important, I want to have fun. I want to be able to jump in, play a couple of matches, and then walk away when I want to. If I set up a dedicated server, spent the time inviting players, etc etc, I wont be able to just "walk away", and the game will become much less fun for me. All the problems with a votekick can be SOLVED easily by adjusting the rules on how and when a votekick can happen. Make it so that at least six players are on the server for a votekick to happen, and that it takes four of them to kick one person (60% required to kick one person). 12 players? 7 people. To 'grief' a full server, that means 7 people have to be all involved... With those numbers, they'd be able to grief the server with OR without votekick -anyway-. The whole point is to keep ONE person with an aimbot wrecking the server. Because nothing clears out a server faster than some guy named Bob with 60 kills and 2 deaths, instantly headshotting anyone that steps out of spawn and no one able to do anything about it except sit around waiting for the round to end. It's not like votekicking hasn't been around. It has. In every game I've played where votekicking was allowed, its always been more positive then negative. Sure, some people MAY abuse it, but there's easier ways to grief in this game with those sort of numbers. THe whole point is to make sure ONE person cant, by giving the majority the ability to kick cheaters. A lot of the assumptions here are that the majority of people are dickheads, when that's simply not the case. In TF2 (a game with more players per server, but a similar fanbase) there are servers with votekick modifications. In fact, it's the only type of servers I tend to play on, just because of VAC's time delay when it comes to banning hackers. With over 1000 hrs on record on TF2, I can HONESTLY SAY that votekicking never harmed a single game I was in, but saved QUITE A FEW from the many cheaters, and griefers out there. Any situation where the votekick could be used for griefing would require so many people, that the server already has a major problem in the fact that 60% of its players aren't trying to play the game, but ruin it. So, its a moot point because either way the server is ****! At least in this way, we can stop one or two people ruining the game! I'd even go so far to say that a lack of a votekick option is going to be what kills this game, especially since it has a leaderboard. How can I trust the rankings, or positions when some guy could of been cheating, and no one bothers to report, and VAC doesn't catch him? With a votekick option, the damage done would be minimized. Reporting a hacker on the forums ISNT MADE CLEAR IN GAME. Which is another problem. People don't do anything, and have to rely on VAC, not realizing they can speed up the process by reporting it on the forum. If this was made clear, votekicking (to curb damage quickly) + reporting (to prevent future damage) will make said fears not as present. Well, here's another idea. Have a damn report option in the games GUI, or a link to the report a hacker thread. It'd take two seconds to code (though admitted longer to get the patch out), christ!
I like how you connect a number of kills and the possession of an aimbot, I salute you for this fallacy. Votekicking doesn't help, just like scramble (always makes it worse) for reasons already stated.
How to report a hacker As with any game, we would need some proof or enough people saying one is a hacker. You can do this by means of a small movie or a screenshot of the ridiciously high kill ratio (including the timer of the game!). Still, descretion is advised as I won't add someone to the list just like that. ----- Taken from MyMNCServer - Report a hacker. It's not a fallacy if its a criteria for getting these players banned before VAC gets into effect. A high kill count with a chat log of the entire server saying "HES AIMBOTTING" and raging over one guy killing the server, is I think, a good amount of proof. If you're going to insult someone, at least check yourself, before you wreck yourself. And I'm sorry, but 60 kills and 2 deaths would be cause for alarm in any FPS, especially from someone picking the Sniper class. 30 kills, and 0-2 deaths I've done before, with the Assassin. But 60 is really pushing it. And no, I didn't just connect that. This is an example from a real game I played where we were ALL trapped in spawn because NOT ONE OF US COULD STEP OUT WITHOUT INSTANTLY BEING HEAD SHOT!
The votekick is a good idea, but not for this guys' reason. If a player is causing problems and there are no admins on, a votekick is a good way to get rid of the that player.
Has anyone ever played Combat Arms. The votekick system is abused constantly, and many pub matches I have been in, teams refuse to kick hackers, and more often than not, I myself get kicked for using weapons that some other nub just doesn't like, or for doing too well. :| I say no to the vote kick.
