Mod Wishlist

    Uber intends on releasing an SDK soon(hopefully). Let's get ready for it with some brainstorming.

    Anything Mods can handle is less work for Uber. They can dedicate more time to other stuff the less we bog them down with things we can handle.

    Post mod ideas. Big, Small, Simple, Complex, Stupid, Funny, whatever. The modding community won't know what you want if you don't tell them, and the easiest way for them to do that is to give them a place to look instead of having them roam the forums.
    This is just a mod wishlist, if you don't like a mod idea, don't play with it/make it. You not liking a mod should never interfere with other people playing with it on. And if it really isn't fun no one will play it.



    Things that I don't know if they are in the game but should be(I hope they are already)
    Alltalk(never seen it)
    Varied Maxplayers(I have seen 10 max but never more than 12)
    Varied Timescale(host_timescale in source not sure if it's in UE, couldn't find it)



    Thing I want that should be small projects(I think)
    Custom Skins
    Custom Hud
    Varied start money
    Varied start skills
    Allcrits/Nocrits
    Varied bot health
    Varied player health
    Varied moneyball health
    All Jackbots/No Jackbots/Varied bot spawns in general
    All Bacon
    The powerups that were taken out during the beta reimplemented(like the speed ones, but for everything)
    No bacon/No powerups
    Serverside Music/Sounds triggered by ingame events (HEADTRICK!!!)
    Anything interesting



    Things I want that would be big(I think) projects

    MoneyMan Gametype.
    At the annihilator is a minimoneyball. Whoever has it can collect money for their team instead of them. Dying drops it. Skills/taunts get disabled while holding the minimoneyball. If you do not make any money for(insert time here) it goes back to the center. First team to $5000 wins. OT everyone gets one and skills are no longer disabled.

    Koth
    At the center is a moneyball. Doing damage to it will convert it to the other teams color temporarily. All damage you deal to it is put in a pool, first team to deal normal moneyball health damage wins. OT either team can shoot at it.

    Jigglebones Heads Reskin
    Because it would be funny any you know it.

    Custom Bots
    Specifically, one made of Bacon. And another made of Churros. Others would be fine too I guess...

    Custom Animations
    If you are so inclined to make them, custom taunts/grapples could be interesting.

    Sound Overhaul
    The sounds in MNC are awesome. So were the sounds in HL2, but some guy decided to replace all the sound effects in that game with his voice and it was amazing. Something like that for MNC. Maybe replacing all the sound files with animal roars or something.


    And to anyone who complains that this is not the way the game was meant to be played/(insert mod here) is OP. Deal with it. If I want to ruin the game for myself let me do so on my server, and stay the :shock: out.

    just some stuff off the top of my head

    Utility: (all these would be pretty easy except maybe the spectator, and even that shouldn't be too much problems if i can up the max player limit)
    -mapchooser
    -reserved slots
    -votes
    -spectator mode
    -ingame stats
    -tourny mode

    Random idea's: (slightly more complex to make)
    -DM
    -ability levels starting at 0 each
    -ability max levels 5
    -bots upgradeable
    -turrets more upgradeable
    -making each juice do something different/unique
    if theres modelers/animators in the community then new PROS/classes would be really cool
    -more guns
    -mutators(?)

    but ye... still no word on editor support yet... so no clue when/if ever it'll become possible to add anything

    DM? If you meant deathmatch, let me ask you:

    How well would a support do in deathmatch?

    How well would a sniper do in a NON-TEAM deathmatch?

    How well would an assassin work in deathmatch, without bots and/or juice? (she does suck otherwise, thus why she needs it)

    I see heavies and assaults the only viable things in deathmatch. Wouldn't be any tactical gameplay about it, nor balance since the assault is fairly good against the other 2.

    ok, ill bite

    if i go modding stuff into dm, first things first, checking out if its fun...

    then, if it is... then i can check if something doesn't work/UP/OP

    then... if it is fun, but unbalanced... i can make changes to suit that... (if i want to, or if it is requested of me)

    just like any other mod/game.... i don't see a problem?

    also, just straight up dm seems a bit of waste of resources to me, so more likely to be some variant dm thingy, but hey... just posting ideas, and yes, i would make a dm mod, just to check it out, or for testing straight up 1v1s, or for something to use as a base for... say, sumo mod? or whatever?

    Would take a lot of changes, but technically you could make a deathmatch right now if you change a lot of the stuff in scripts.

    Just letting you know what the devs told us xbox players half a year ago. First, it isn't tactical, it's gun-mashing, when the game was designed as a RTS. Second, the support mainly, among others, have huge gaps in balance, where the assault is perfect when you take bots and turrets out of the equation. Those were formerly addressed issues. When fixed, I still wouldn't do DM myself, as I was always a S&D man in CoD myself.

    Wouldn't play DM even if it were made, but a lot of the other stuff sounds cool. The thought of new classes/weapons never crossed my mind, and that would have some serious potential. And just mixmatching weapons doesn't seem like it would be TOO hard. I remember a tf2 mod where you got random weapons,chosen from all classes. Was fun to play with friends. Resulted in the occasional super OP but was otherwise fun.

    And juice that acts as a bacon pickup first time you use it would be an interesting twist.
    Would a level 0 in a skill would make it unusable, or just sucky?
    Upgraded Jackbot should be made of bacon, there is no other option.
    Map votes are a must. People can't build longshots on Steel Peel if no one votes on it(and I sure won't).
    I want to see this sumo mod you speak of.

    Awesome ideas CrancK.

    Not sure if desired skins should go in another thread or not, but until the SDK comes out I guess we can put it here.

    On that note, skins that would be cool.

    Bacon covered armor
    Endorsement covered armor
    Birthday hats
    Bunny ears
    Ammo Mule facemask for Support.
    Purple(spunky cola) armor for Hotshots
    Green(St. Patrick's Day) armor for Icemen
    Target on faces
    Target on backs
    Dagger replaced by a churro, sword replaced by giant bacon(I am HUNGRY)

    Here are some ideas off the top of my head:
    Different Time of Day on Maps - Day/Night

    Replace Hazards with different Effect - Annihilator could stun all enemy turrets/Ejector could be a big activated Ice Trap.

    At timed intervals a Pro Spawned bot auto spawns with a wave ala Spunky Bouncers.

    Replace Bullseye and Mickey Cantor dialogue lines.

    Replace Speed pickups with other endorsement types - Reload Speed/Clip Size/Crit. Shot will work the same way 1 pickup is equal to Bronze and 3 would be Gold just for that life.

    Here are some mods that I run on my Team Fortress 2 servers and they do very well.

    1. Advanced Admin Control - Allow groups and permissions so founders/server owners can give select admin members kick, silence, mute, gag, ect without giving them the ban command.
    2. Admin Commands - Add commands to mute or gag a player to prevent them from talking or chatting.
    3. MOTD - Add the ability to add a custom MOTD that users see when they first connect to a server.
    4. Advanced Bans - Allow servers to take advantage of sql databases for bans. I use sourcebans in TF2. This program communicates to my website using an RCON program and connects to a database. This allows me to ban someone from all my servers. If you guys could develop a plugin or the ability to utilize sql databases this will help communities like me.

    These are just a few that I can think of.

    Mute to the server. Meaning they cannot talk through the game volume. Only chat channel on steam, or a different server.

    Ability to disable juice vending machines.... if only during overtime. Let's face it, most games go in to overtime. The team coordination just isn't there for most games not to. Makes most games feel even less of an achievement/loss when most people just hold out until OT with hordes of cash so they can repeatedly juice and take out the moneyball in quick fashion. Usually just comes down to dumb luck in who gets there faster or who was hip to saving cash to get juice for OT. The game is just so rinse/repeat already :(

    something interesting to try, if the glitch airgrapples continue, might be to try and make airgrapples normal/possible for everyone and anytime, and make people have another tool to defend themselves against grapples....
    maybe something like, melee > grapple?

    that way, assasins and assaults can have airfights :D


    also, something else to add would be overall movement options, so every class has more then just running... actually, ut-like dodge (+walldodge? airdodge? lol) might be cool, in lieu of my prev idea, since that could also be countering grapples
    cos i don't think bunnyhop or strafing really fits the game

    The ability to buy the achievement_all_v4 cat in-game.
