I had increasing time penalties. I was surprised to see it at 20 minutes. I waited for that to finish, then when another game failed to connect, I got a 1 hour penalty. I was deliberately not abandoning any games that failed to connect. Sometimes it said that my opponent would receive a penalty for abandoning the game, and I doubt they were.
I think there are some server backend problems atm. So I recommend to wait a bit. ... yeah I realize you have to anyway now. :s
Uber is meeting their usual standards of quality. Releasing games before they are ready, or even work.
