short thread .. so has anyone ever tested what happens when 2 opposing commanders manage to get in space while the last planets have been destroyed .. what would happen in a game with spawning asteroids? is there a draw condition for this?
I think any orbital units transfering to a planet that gets destroyed either teleport to a random planet or are destroyed themselves. So the OP would be a draw condition.
DRAW!!!!!!! Wait better make 4 gaming end conditions: -Win -Lose -Lost in Space -TOTAL ANNIHILATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (SupCom Draw)
I know in the past, I've had armies (and nukes) vanish when the planet they were leaving was destroyed. This made me very sad. I think they should attempt to land at the closest available body. If there is none, have them spiral into the sun and die (a tie is fine)
Orbits don't spiral. They ellipse. Do commanders run out of reactor fuel or anything? I would recommend a "died of old age" mutual defeat (as opposed to draw) scenario when this occurred.
This is a game, not real life. IMHO it would look cooler to have them crash into the sun if there is no where for them to land, than to have them just time out. I like the idea of mutual defeat as well, I said tie because I wasn't keen on the idea of one team winning just because their commander either timed out 2nd or crashed into the sun 2nd or however it happens.
