Anyone want that game mode? I mean, I'm all in favor of Commander Sniping, but, come on, there's a point when it's just plain unfair. There should be a way to only end the game when the entirety of the other side is wiped out. Anyone play Total Annihilation? Yeah, that.

The main problem i have with removing Assassination in a match is it greatly increases the chance of the game reaching a terrible stagnation stage.

When you play Chess do you continue the game once your king is "killed" ?! This is madness! :)

I personally wouldn't like this mode and wouldn't play it. It would totally change the game dynamic.. It would be so weird having the commander be irrelevant, but as a mod sure why not.

The more game modes the better.

The thing is, that takes the commander's value away- I remember doing that in TA, where you would have to kill EVERYTHING, right down to the last fighter patrolling their base to win. Logically, that makes sense. However, that is not something that you would want, as that makes everything too tedious.

Here is my proposal for this playmode:

    If the army has
    a) No Commanders
    b) No Fabricators
    c) No Factories (does NOT include Nuke silos)

    then they lose.

And, I just ended a game that I shouldn't have won with a nuke commander snipe. But hey, it's their fault for leaving me alone too long, right? Then again, I wouldn't let them get teleporters up on my planet as i had completely encased it with umbrellas. And... they should have built anti nuke :)

    Ugh, I hate the feeling you have when you are playing team armies and you lose your commander, just an army without a com :{

keep in mind this would be a totally optional gamemode. I like bengeocth's suggestion. That's basically the way it works in the Supreme Commander series'.

I personally have a thing for stalemates. But anyhow, game ending weapons like the annihilazer and halley moons can't really be defended against and wipe out entire bases. That would contributes greatly to getting rid of the stagnation stage.

I think it's a valid game mode and would like to see it. I think a lot of players would really enjoy it. Especially players from the Supreme Commander type games.

for "annihilation" replace the commander with a vehiclefabber ... it just doest feel right to me losing him and game goes on like nothing happened ...
one thing for sure such a gamemode without propper unitpool could drag on forever ...

I'm hoping that more Game Mode options are on the way, then we could see about toning down the Annihilaser to something more reasonable and make a proper King of the Hill Game Mode.

If there would be a game mod like this, there will be a lot of coms suiciding in enemy base ( free nuke) . So my vote is no

How bout this for a game mode:

    "Interesting name here"

Each player gets a set amount of commanders "lives" essentially allowing you more chances at living.

Say I set the game option to 3. So each player gets 3 commanders to make use of, essentially giving each player 3 lives. (In case your wondering, extreme comboxxing comes to mind here :D )

This completely optional game mode NEEDS to happen, it would make the game so much more macro (which I love).
This would also make the AI a formidable opponent, AI usually dies with me when he does something dumb with his commander, like landing an astreus on top of an umbrella and a 100 fighters.
I'd even be ok with a gamemode where the AI may continue playing after losing his commander but I can not.

I once played a game of chess in "annihilation mode", where the loss of king didn't end the game. It was awesome!

dude then don't vote no. if it doesn't effect you there's no reason to care. more lobby choices is always a plus and this is an age-old classic.

I don't even understand why there's a poll. who the hell voted "no?" why do they care?

Funny story, thats the only way I ever played TA :p

Adjusting to protecting my commander for PA has been weird and at times, unwelcome. I think I turtle far too much in overcompensation, not that its not my own problem :)

That used to be a TA tactic, but then you could also rush for air transport and airlift the enemy commander to a mountain peak so....

Yeah, I would like a game mode like this.

I've gotten pretty good and the stewpud enemy commander always steps in to save the day and gets blown to bits and ends my fun.

The argument about it working like chess is specious. This isn't chess. How do you build your factories in chess? How do you do resource management in chess?

In the real world, when you kill the king, dies that end the war? Well, no, actually. It used to, but not anymore. That was what surprised the British when they tried to retake the US by capturing Philadelphia. They discovered that they owned an empty city and still had a rebellious colony. But I digress...

    I want a supremacy mode.

So you only have to destroy all engineers and factories to win.
