looks like duplo. honestly. also you no longer get default 1080p because you're no longer deemed responsible or master of your own ship, sais youtube :
it's not a good thing now we have less configuration. the option I have is guaranteed to be your default.
Also, you never used to get default 1080p. It simply used to remember certain video options that you set manually. You still had to set them manually the first time around. There may have been a setting for some time that forced X level of detail on all videos, but it wasn't always there. This is coming from someone who has a fibre optic connnection whose YouTube automatically streams over Wi-Fi at 1080p when it's available. But eh. People are gonna whine nomatter what Google do.
From what I've seen, all they did was move the "watch later"-button from the player itself to the "add to playlist"-menu below the video. What a disaster.
Not as bad as changing the order of the on/off buttons for no reason other than to f*ck with people's muscle memory.
no more like and dislike within the video screen anymore either... ....but there the addition of a shaaaaaaaaaaare buttoooooooooooooonnn : D : D /Sarcasm oh god what have we come to?
It's beyond me how people care this much about that player. It the best working player I know of. Remembers the time you last saw, handles even the worst kind of reconnects, etc pp.
I like that it's transparent now. Definitely an improvement. About that quality thing, until they let me do it on a global AND per device level, it's no good for me. Some of my devices suck even when they get 4mb, others are fine. It's a real pain.
You're such a programmer The UI is the bit you interact with every time, so you notice all the annoyances every time.
The Youtube player API btw is superb. Also I do interact with that play every day a lot, youtube is basically my musicbox.
this is exaclty why we care, cola if it weren't we'd be complaining about some OTHER player's changes. it's time youtube started acting more responsible vis-a-vis the size of it's userbase.
While we're "complaining" I think I'll drop this here: my internet speeds SUCK. I can't watch 720p60 on 4mb/s unless it's low quality HD. YouTube, why can't you just give me 720p60 AND 720p30. Otherwise I do love it. I just miss my HD videos
So the UI update came to my neck of the woods. I have no idea why people are complaining about it. Does anybody here have actual UI / UX concerns that we can discuss, or are we just bitching? (I don't mind that, I just wanna know )
