Hey guys/gals , So yes..this is shameless spam , and if it gets deleted it gets deleted. But , I've started doing a weekly in-studio eSports show, Green Screen , Cameras the whole deal. I'm not getting paid or even making ad revenue..just doing it for fun. The show " Flavor of the Week Gamer" Profiles a new game each week that I'm playing, with the goal of introducing people to some of the newer or obscure games in PC gaming. As you can guess I featured MNC on this week episode #3. Tell me what you guys think? Criticism mean/nice is very much welcome. Link to the MNC feature episode: http://e-rev.tv/index.php?page=casts_more&id=764 I'd be happy to post the links to episodes 1 and 2 if the forum mods approve it.
Yeah man I totally played this game for like 10 minutes and it's so great. Like omg assassin is so OP. Christ man you have no idea what you're doing. Why would you post this on a forum where people ALREADY know about the game.
hey, I like your show n' all, but to say the least, I'm a little bit annoyed by the fact that you reviewed MNC without even getting semi-competent at it. So, I'm sorry if this is gonna sound a lil' bit flamy, that's most likely because it is. As the video shows, you're level 5, so... you've played maybe 10 matches, and now you think you're competent enough to give a realistic representation of what the game has to offer? are you sure you're competent enough to talk about class balance? you didn't even unlock one of the custom class slots. a quick rundown of mistakes: 1.) assault charge does not oneshot low hp classes if they're wearing armor endorsements, it's their own fault if they decide to go glasscannon -builds. 2.) the assassin's cloak is not entirely invisible, the closer you get, the easier it is to see. 3.) the assassin's cloak makes a loud humming sound, which gives away the cloaked assassin at a fairly long distance 4.) there are several counters to the assassin stabs, such as and not limited to: having eyes and ears, pressing the spacebar to jump, pressing the mouse2 key to grapple them back, playing the tank class, wearing armor endorsements, and one of my personal favorites: holding down the mouse1 key in the general direction of the imminent threat. Seriously, if assassins are walking up to you 'n stabbin' you to death, you haven't put enough hours into this game yet. Now, if they're using the lunge (which happens to be the reload key, which you didnt bother reading up on in the ingame guides) and then grappling you, that's a bit of a different story, since it's actually a viable strat, albeit, still very much counterable. I don't know how many ppl watch your show, but say, if i wanted my friend to buy the game, I sure wouldn't direct them to your review, which showed... well, very lacking and unexciting gameplay, and you calling things OP based on the few hours of gameplay you've got. I think it gives a much too negative representation of the classbalance. It also gives false information, such as the cloak being entirely invisible. I'm glad you had fun, but to be quite honest, I think your review is quite unfair towards uberent. I'll give you props for the effort, but please, before you review a game, you might want to become decent at it first. Now, I'm truly sorry if I offended you in any way during the reading of this post, I encourage you to keep doing what you're doing regardless of what I've said. Other than the above mentioned, Good Job on making the show
My connection is too crappy to watch it right now, but I'll give it a go later. Gee wizz Runie, put your claws away.
Just so I don't seem like a complete doucher here's what I would have done instead of what you did. Join official forums BEFORE making the video. Tell them you're going to make a video showing off the game to people who probably haven't seen it before. ASK THEM WHAT TO SHOW OFF. I dunno man, maybe get some footage of people who are actually good at the game? Who can show off things better than you? Maybe ask them questions so you don't get things wrong? (ex. Assassins cloak doesn't make you invisible, it just makes you harder to see, thats why the assault killed you so quickly.) FOR GOD'S SAKES DON'T SHOW YOUR STATS IN THE VIDEO. You had like 30 damn kills which shows how little you played the game. That's really unprofessional. I mean usually journalists do a little research you know? This just shows you at best have a rudimentary grasp on what you're supposed to do. SCRIPT THE VIDEO. Or at least practice your script better, it just seems like you're bumbling around with no idea what to say. Also if you already made the video, again I ask, why would you show this to the forums where people already know about the game??
Look! I'm sorry but he probably did more harm than good! He could've made a good video but instead he made some half-assed review without doing any research. It just really bothers me as an artist and musician that people seem to think that because their videos are made for the internet they can just half-*** what they do and upload it. It's like they think "Welp, I sure made a video, better upload it!"
I think you have done a good review and you are a natural at presenting a game on video. Nice setup with the green screen! Just one thing: Don't comment on balance unless you have played a game for a long time. Keep playing for a few days and you will know what we are talking about... Overall I'd say your show is entertaining and gives the viewers a good impression of what to expect from MNC, nice job! PS: Runie, more constructive criticism, less ranting.
I'm sorry but it really irks me because I put my all into my hobbies and work. It just makes me angry when I see people who have put no effort into something they claim to have done for fun. Edit: Not that anything I say will matter to him because whenever I see people like this on forums they tend to just spam their videos everywhere then never come back to the forum. Basically he's just spamming this everywhere desperately trying to get more views.
Usually when it's done for fun, it's not really their best as that actually requires heavy effort which for most people is not fun. And yeah, probably will never come back so it's not like he's going to read these replies.
I read the feedback and I appreciate your feedback given from everyone....haha I'm not a coward or anything , I'm just busy , had no idea this thread had taken off. Perhaps I've misrepresented what the show is. The show is not a review. I'm pretty sure I made that clear , if I didn't my apologies. It is not a review. I only talk about games that I play , and if I'm playing them , its because I enjoy playing them. I enjoyed MNC , so I talked about it. The show profiles a new game I'm playing each week , with the intent of showing people something new. I don't believe I said anything truly negative about the game , and hopefully people who had no idea about the game have an inkling now. My thoughts on the assassin : If you're new to the game , say as new as I am , the class is extremely annoying when you're learning to play , people playing the game for the first time would notice this : As I did. I appreciate all your responses ,and I in no way meant to offend anyone.
Also...This is one of the most obtuse things I've ever heard anyone say ..and I'm pretty sure my first post stated that it was shameless spam , I'm looking for feedback ,which you provided. appreciate it.
Well, I admit that I had my fair share of rage moments in the early beta thanks to Assassins... Now they lead my kill statistic.
I liked it. I'd advise you not make calls on balance when initially playing the game and instead just review the game at face value, you're only going to be polarizing your audience. Runie don't be so needlessly heated especially when someone puts so much effort into producing something like this. As far as feedback goes, the production felt somewhat unprepared. If I were you I would take some additional time to organize your thoughts and present the game more cleanly. You kind of fumble through what the game is and your explanation of the objectives is not immediately clear. For example you said single player was "versus bots" but it's more than that, you know? If I were you I'd talk down the basics first, what the objectives are, what all the classes are, just a real good general overview. Talking about Assault, play clips of Assault, move onto Assassin, play clips of Assassin -- there's no need to accompany every clip with a play by play, I'd just play the clips with the overview to give them a picture to put the explanation to. Once you've got all the basics covered, you can move onto the play-by-play analysis because you won't have to explain everything as it comes up, which REALLY screws up the pacing in my opinion. Keep it up though I like the quality of it all.
