Ok, so the Assassin's role is to kill key targets and sweep bots on it's corridor runs. To me the two priority targets are always Gunners and Support specialists but today I found myself trying to break through a support with a third level sentry and third level hack applied to it. The only thing I could do was hope said support would leave his firebase to take him out but then came the problem of the firebase...I didn't destroy it nor did I approach it again since even with a katana, a firebase lv3 hack 3 would obviously own me at full health. So my question is, against a high level support did someone come up with a sin strategy to knockout an entrenched high level support entirely (Support+ Firebase) or do I always have to double team it with a sin+gunner/sin+assault combo?
You're better off avoiding the turrets, but an upgraded smokebomb should blind the turret long enough to assassinate the support if you must attack him.
Hmm, if there's no way around it I'll just start focusing on gunners and isolated supports then. Even though it's hard after years of TF2, when I see assassin I think automatically "Predator of engineer type class". I'll just have to get used to it. Thanks for the smoke bomb tip Ladnil, didn't know it stunned firebases.
In addition to this, I heard you can turn invisible while assassinating to avoid the turret tearing you a new one once you're finished.
The answer is simple: Just avoid the firebase. You have Snipers, Tanks, and Gunners that can make short work of them. The best thing you can do is make your team AWARE that there is a turret placed someplace. If you happen upon a Support that is spam-healing his firebase, just smokebomb him and the firebase, backstab him, cloak, and run away.
As someone else mentioned earlier you can reactivate cloak as soon as you start your grapple animation. this is really useful for killing players near turrets or large groups of bots.
