So I just played a match vs AI on the latest PTE (80684). My UI crashed no less than 5 times, often immediately crashing after reconnecting to the game. I open up my task manager, to kill PA, and find this monstrosity: Clearly there's no sort of redundancy going on, so I can't help but think that having more processes going when even one crashing kills the entire UI is a bad thing. On a side note, at the time of playing the game, I was consuming almost all of my download bandwidth. Could that have some interference effect?
eurogamer.net /articles/cavedog_rip polygon.com /2014/10/20/7024041/uber-entertainment-cancels-human-resources-kickstarter Uber Entertainment is on it's last leg.... i should say stump.
It´s from 2014... ...and that was BEFORE Uber launched their patch front---in other words: TROLL! Regarding the interface-crash-issue: I had this on stable as well, but just right after the game has started---after reconnecting all was fine!
Propounding my opinion and the opinions of others does not make me a troll. If few people will buy or support a company financially, the company goes under... Uber Entertainment has lost the faith of millions, and only holds a few hundred people's attention. If they don't change they are gone.
Consuming all of your bandwidth should only create lag for you, not crashes. And it's quite normal to have so many CoherentUI processes going on. If you want to experiment, you can reduce them though. To do so, start PA with the following parameter: Code: --coherent-options="--renderer-process-limit=N" where you change N to be the maximum number of Coherent UI processes. Anyway, what OS are you on? If Linux or Mac, what graphics card do you use and which drivers and what is the version of the OS. If Windows, can you upload a DxDiag.txt. To make one of those, press <WinKey>+R, type "dxdiag", and press "Save All Information...". You can upload the resulting file here using the Upload a File button on this forum.
Having many coherent UI processes reduces ui lag. Each bit of ui is a separate process so they're all run separately. In alpha it was one process and lagged like hell. Also PA is REALLY bandwidth intensive due to all the units and such, what kinda' game were you having? (Like 1v1, team game, etc?...) Uber lost trust due to entire misconceptions and people being impatient and unfaithful to begin with. Though I will admit release was like a week too early- Should have had offline mode. Anyway thanks bby, we love you. <3
he has somewhat of a point, the forums are desolate now, it appears the player retention rate after steam sales was... not high. We need reworked GW very soon.
I can only hope that this is a system specific issue... would explain why I've had UI crash connects so often lately. Mine occur throughout the game.
Linking ways outdated information out of context is part of what´s called trolling... ...that part is true, BUT neither what you linked nor what you intended with your first post! You wanted to build up a parallel between two companies. That attempt failed---and got nothing to do with the stuff you posted now! Thought the same thing when that message you linked popped up and when the layoffs crashed in! BUT: They survived so far! And I don´t see a reason right now why they shouldn´t continue to survive... ...if there next Kickstarter will fail, I´d agree! But right now? Not a chance! BTW: Sorry for the OT @iacondios !
You seem to have two graphics cards. Do you use SLI by any chance? If so, can you try disabling that to see if that makes a difference?
There's a known UI bug out there that's been reported to Coherent. We can review a game log to see if it's a known issue or something new. Game logs should be found around here: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Uber Entertainment\Planetary Annihilation\log Please delete the existing logs in this folder, play PA until you reach this bug, then go back to the folder to find your game log. Please email this log to support@uberent.com or upload to this Forum.
