So with the 1v1 ladder losing players, I thought the game loses players and you can get no games. But team games still seem to be alive. How about acknowledging that and give us a Teamplayer ladder? Elodea talked about something like that in the Future of PA thread. I didn't want to necro the 3v3 ranked thread (I think there are not enough teams that stick together, to justify such a ladder), because this suggestion is different. It is similar to the PAStats teamladder. Here is a suggestion: - Each player has a Teamgames rating, rank and a deviation (very similar to the 1v1 rank, rating and deviation) - When players form a team, the game averages all their Teamgames ratings (not the 1v1 rating) and their deviation - This calculated Teamrating is shown in the lobby - When the teams play, the system just calculates with the Teamrating and Teamdeviation (so it can basically use the same system as the 1v1 ladder to calculate the points a team loses or wins) - After the game each player's Teamgames Rating is modified by the calculated amount - A ladder shows who is the best Teamplayer Pros: - Everyone can even out teams in the lobby - You can recognize good teams and decide if you really want to face them (important to give randoms a better experience) - Every team gets a rating, even if you change players - The ladder is an incentive to search a team and hone your skill - You can use the same rating system as 1v1, you just need some calculations (maybe a con, see below) and a second rank, rating and deviation for each account Cons: - Only works if 2 teams face each other, not for 3v3v3 or something like that - This system doesn't take into account if you play 2v2 or 5v5 - The calculation of the average team rating could slow down the lobby? What do you think?
First change the 1vs1 ladder so it makes people play more instead of rewarding players to play less. Once that works creates 2vs2 ladder using the same tech.
But how many people would play in such a specific ladder? I think a more general approach would be better.
I would love to see team ranked introduced. I just never felt that PA shined in the 1v1 field. Where the game really shines is team vs team shared armies (As long as your teammate isnt some *** who thinks its ok to delete everyones comms as soon as he doesnt want to play anymore) I've gotten so close to going on witch-hunts due to people like this on multiple occasions. Only didnt end up doing it due to the clan calming me down.
This is what I've been wanting for about 29 years. Yes. That long. I really think PA shines as a team armies games, with lots of stuff going on in lots of different places. And that that's definitely what the main focus should be, playing as teams. Best tournament I played in was the Clopsey Pro-Am, and that was a LOT of fun. Many amounts of fun were had that day. So yes, please. Team rankings FTW.
