yeah you clearly outlined a distinction there, need and want.

you know you don't need a bigmac or and of the stuff contained within a soda. in fact all you need is liter of water and a potato a day. If the guys over at starcraft live like recluses, that's their business.

    superunits for me plz.

There are just two things that I think are poor there.
    - Being forced to build different factories
So basically a way to play like i want (Bots, Tanks, Air) without being forced to build other factories.
Currently i need the T2 Bot (Bluehawk) for Anti Orbital and the T1 Tank (Spinner) for Anti Air.
I wish there would be a Rocketbased Tank for T2, an AA Bot for T1, and maybe even some T2 AA stuff as well.

    - Orbital
It just feels weird. Its somehow there but at the same time its not.
The Anchor feels odd. A defense Turret that can shoot anything but can only get shot by a few units is somehow...wrong, i havnt tested in a while, but how many Avengers can one Anchor shoot now? The last time i checked it was a lot. And the only good counter i have found so far are Bluehawks.
OWOM had an interesting idea there with the different turrets for each layer. In general OWOM adds Orbital Combat that makes sense (in theory...cant play it because of my poor upload :()
So overall i would wish for more love for the Orbital layer. Different Turrets for different layers, "T2" Fighters, Long Range stuff...basically everything that the ground units have.

I dont care for flashy units, huge special megabots.
Sure, they can be fun, but at the same time its also boring. Combat can get reduced down to those units, and thats bad.
More special attacks on the other hand...that might be interesting.

This was exactly what I didn't like about SupCom, just having this one factory that builds everything, and this one engineer that can go everywhere and build everything. It's not like it's hard to support multiple factories in PA, and I think it's interesting to have tech choices in the game. I think it makes it more interesting that you have to invest into a particular route, you have to prioritise what you need the most rather than just building a factory that builds all the things. This is exactly what makes StarCraft interesting, very quickly you decide on a tech route, and it stops you straight away from going down another route. As Protoss for example, if I go for Robo tech, I can't also go for air at the same time without wrecking my economy, which is good because then I am using a specific tech, that my opponent can counter. Otherwise it would be a case of just building all the strongest units and making the same deathball every time vs my opponent's same deathball.

You can't even do that in starcraft 2.....unless you are the zerg, but then you need tech buildings.

I would go even a step further. In my opinion this is a part of the cause when people moan about "lacking" depth and strategy in PA.
If you could build everything instantly, it gets really hard to overwhelm your opponent by a given unit composition. Because your opponent can start to build the same composition the moment he sees it. The only time penalty he has is the time between building the unit and seeing it. The complete strategy boils down to who can build faster more factories.

More generally speaking when you imagine a game as chain of decisions made by all players, this is like a horizon, the farthest point in the future of this game chain, which influences the optimal decision on the current move. If this point is far in the future, people call a game hard or strategic. If it isn't, then it doesn't even matter against who you are playing.

And honestly I prefer a deep horizon.

I don't get why people would want to be able to build everything from one factory. I mean next step you could remove all units and give the air fighter the ability to move everywhere and attack everything. One factory, one unit. xD

I would suggest going the other direction even further: We need more cheese, more hard counters to cheese and - people will cry about this, because it could kill T2 for small maps again - more timing gaps between T1 and T2 arrival.

Ew ew, no- less gap between t1 and t2 please.

I still wish t2 were entirely specialised units.. :<

FaF patched that out when they introduced engy mod.

Uber, with PA decided to pick things up from there. engy mod explains the way PA is.

Having different factories was one of the reasons I even bought this game. If it had been like Supcom with only 1 factory I surely wouldn't have bought it at all...

either way. I don't know if factory assist is popular amongst the TA pros.

PA its not a spiritual successor of TA .

when you all understand that ,have some ideas but no way is what you all want.

For that wait for the surprise CT will give us all this year on his secret project.

But PA its a good game.

Also that one, it is a completely rebalanced game. I don´t like certain things but you can play the game by yourself and expect the ai to use properly all of its new toys

it has a commander, streaming economy , 2 tiers of units divided into basic and advanced
doesn´t that sound familiar? ... it is not a sequel neither a direct copy .. however it plays very similar and that makes it spiritual ... spiritual /= same game or franchise ... spiritual = alike with nods to "x"

And it looks much better than PA. It has that something, but imo PA is better in strategy department, Starcraft suffers seriously from that "find best build order, repeat forever, or until somebody else gets better build order". For me there is no strategy in watching youtube learning what to click in order then just improving apms. There are even some players that just keep clicking to have nice apm stat.
While PA devs did what they could to stop such things in pa.
