Ever since humans and AIs have been able to be on the same team it hasn’t been possible to enable AI shared armies. This is a real shame because shared armies is where Planetary Annihilation really shines. This guide will help you restore AI shared armies, and in addition allow you to play on a shared armies team with the AI. Be warned, the AI doesn’t understand playing shared armies with a human and will regularly steal your stuff. In other words it’s like the online experience. Read the full guide on enabling AI shared armies here.
Everyone owes it to themselves to try playing at least one game in shared armies with the AI. It's interesting to say the least.
AI's are way more pig-headed than randoms when it comes to fighting over unit control. I basically handed over my commander to my Absurd vanilla AI "teammate" after wrestling over it for the first 2 minutes. Later, when trying to link up a pair of teleporters, I was flatly denied - AI kept toggling teleporters' power off faster than I could switch it back on (<shaking fist at sky> Damn this human form and its limits!!). And then, as if to rub my nose in it, he Astreus-dropped a fabber beside my off-world teleporter. I suppose the AI has lots of excess APM to devote to these in-team disputes, and no fear of being blacklisted from future lobbies. And it is kind of a **** :/ (maybe Queller will have better manners, being British) Regardless, awesome tip! Thanks Quitch & mikeyh!
It would be possible to mod the AI to be more AI/human friendly, though it could potentially compromise its performance somewhat.
Would the easy AI try to steal units as often as absurd? And would it make a point to poorly use them? Because it would be hilarious to see two high level players arguing with a low level AI while they face off.
If Exodus ends up with last minute holes in the Clan Wars Showdown roster it would be fun to see an AI team thrown into the mix.
