Yep, pretty excited for this. I've been following shallow space since its origination and it's mighty impressive to see how far this game has come.
Yeah, we have a fantastic musician. Well, right now I'm not doing tons of "community management" per say. We don't have much of a community right now after all. Just about all of my time is spent doing marketing trying to drum up publicity to get our crowdfunding campaign successful. I've also had a good hand at helping sculpt the game functionality, it's been fun.
It's going to have a story driven campaign, a bunch of stand alone scenarios, co-op, and multiplayer.
I'll chip in towards this as it looks really good. Will have to wait until towards end of campaign after pay in April though
I can't really tell from the video, do you just issue orders towards other things tto change your height or can you make move commands a la homeworld of your own accord?
You move a la homeworld style, although from the direction James is taking I would imagine you would be able to just right click on something in order to directly move towards it a la nexus tji. Anyways Brian can probably answer with confirmation.
You can manually set the verticality of the ship's movement. Our current system is to use the mouse to set the X axis, and then the scroll wheel for the Y axis. It plays pretty well.
that's a bit of a lot of hand coordination, coould you instead make it shift + mouse movement to set the y once you're satisfied with the x? (yes I know, that's homeworld) plus that's potentially lots and LOTS of scrolling, is there an accelerator on the scroll?
The controls are definitely gonna go through iterations. We've considered having controls like that, and we may go through combinations. We'll see.
