Unfortunately, a lot of sites have very strict (and IMO outdated) policies on this sort of thing, which makes it very difficult to persuade them to do.

that's why an "addon in name alone" might be a good idea.
In PR-speech you could basically say: "FREE ADDON for PA, now it is called PA: <insert cool name here>".
Basically nothing more than a patch, as usual, but with the required changes as to trigger a "oh an addon, we need to rate that"-feeling from the press.

Eh a Addon is literally the only way to get the people and the press to give the game a 2nd look.
I wouldn´t mind to pay something for a pa addon. (depending on the price tag /content)

    Should be read:
Yeah, Uber should do what FTL did, and release a patch and call it a "free dlc", and even give it a name. Call it Planetary Annihilation: Celestial Content or something. Then, technically it's different so has to be reviewed different.

Ofc, then you NEED to bribe IGN because that is the only way **** gets done ...

Imho developing software is far more interesting than coming up with shiny words to catch peoples interest.

I don't understand your logic. Spherical planets and multiple maps are massive new features, enough to define a new sub-genre of RTS imo, let alone differentiating PA from SupCom.
