Question about grapples

    Ok, so we all know that while grappling you are given a HUGE reduction to incoming damage.. Meaning you take less damage.

    It seems to me that this "buff" lasts atleast half a second after the grapple is finished.. has anyone else noticed this?

    This may be the reason so many assassins are able to facegrapple than get away, the same thing can be said for assaults.. but assaults main grapple doesnt leave them with a way to escape quickly like lunge or smokebomb.. so theres not a huge advantage, other than an extra .5 seconds of dmg reduction..

    anyways.. anyone else noticed this? and if so is it by design or mistake? It would be nice if uber cut off the dmg reduction to make it so it ends when the grapple actually ends, or even .5 seconds before it ends.

    It should only last as long as the grapple. You might be seeing a side effect of lag.

    yeah thats possible.. but it happens quite a bit, where the sin is able to smokebomb well before she starts taking dmg at a regular pace.. its probably lag though. Might wanna consider cutting it a little short to compensate.. but who knows.. it makes face grapples too easy to escape from though.

    Assassins take reduced damage while smoke bombing. Maybe that's what you are seeing.

    while under the effects of smoke bomb (which is rediculous by the way, it means that from the time they leave stealth, until the time they enter stealth again, they have huge reduction to dmg...) but besides that.. They seem to get reduced dmg, in the time it takes from grapple to end and smokebomb to start..

    I should be able to burst them down in that time.. as say a gunner or tank.. but you cant.. because that reduction seems to last .5 seconds or so that it takes to smokebomb..

    Maybe your aim or timing is bad? I've killed so many other Assassin's in the middle of grappling by slashing away at them during and after the animation and they almost always die.

    it would be cool if melee attacks knocked people out of grapples.. since they have no use anywhere else.

    as soon as the grapple is over they start the smoke bomb, so there's little or no gap (depending on lag) where they'll take full damage

    That would be cool

    I hate that an assassin can grapple a teammate right next to me, and I basically can't do anything about it

    Melee attacks give more juice

    depends on what you're comparing them to..

    definitely not more than the assassin's sword or dagger with RoF

    more than what? standing around?

    hardly more than

    jet gun, dagger/sword, minigun, assault rifle.. anything.

    The assassin can just mash E and do the smoke bomb instantly.

    Thats why you mash your counter-grapple key and finish off at the end of your grapple.

    I do it all the time as support.

    What's your point? The same strategy can be applied to any class. Get close, do chip damage and then finish them off after their grapple ends. Smoke Bomb isn't instant or invulnerable, and is highly suspect to grapples because it takes a lot longer to activate (adding the jump to escape) than a grapple does.

    I use melee attacks to farm juice better. It deals less damage meaning I get more juice out of each bot.

    unless t hey grapple, jump than smokebomb.. which any good sin does.

    I have yet to kill a pro with mele attack but they are damn useful for building juice quickly on enemy bots or Juicebot/Mascot

    i got mine using tank, just charge stun them and slam a few melee attacks.

    I found out about melee attacks when fumbling about with the control scheme last night.

    I would have never notived it.
