You might want to try on the pte build then, they've reduced the bandwidth needed for lobby browser a lot, so hopefully should be much better.

+1 ... like he said.. I love the game.. but the lobbies suck... I click join.. nothing happens.. I click again.. I click again ... so frustrating. I am kinda suspicious that it's a network latency issue and that they're not testing with latencies like those of us have in foreign countries (I'm in Australia).
I als noticed this problem sometimes. What fixes it for me is going back to the main menu and then back to the custom games list. Its like sometimes there is a delay on the join button or that the code of the button isn't working.
First join, or at least first join attempt, usually first one will fail ("Failed to join lobby" or something like that) and throw me back to main menu and after that I can join.

It should show a number in the button. eg Optimise User Tag Map (915) If it doesn't restart PA and start a chat with someone.
Click the button... that number means 1,125 network connections at startup before you can do anything.
