    I never thought I would say this, but I think when playing single player against the ai there should be an option to cap how many units can be built. I like to play on large planets against four or five ai opponents and after an hour or so the game slows down to a crawl. If you could cap the units at say 500, 1000, 1500, 2000 and unlimited I think it would help the game a lot.

    you do limit yourself to the ammount of units and eventualy structures available ... that would limit the number of effective assaultoptions or deffenceoptions ... because you may lack the critical mass for it ...

    the only way this would help you is for hardwarereasons but it would hamper with gameplay ...

    that's clear to everyone, noone's stating otherwise.

    what we have here is the debate between two evils and trying to find the lesser one :

    "is hampering gameplay through unit cap worse then hampering it through lag?"

    if it's an option then I'm happy to be able to choose between the two.

    otherwise yes, I’d stick with lag.

    Tell it like it is, biggest you have seen? 4k from three sides (granted the sim speed ran @ 1.2 FPS, but they were beautiful frames), more on topic: It's kinda nice not having to worry about unit caps

    The current unit cap is called the game crashing/running at 1/10th speed, which isn't particularly fun. If someone thinks a unit cap would be helpful for them then that's their choice.

    To be fair hearing about a game lasting an hour vs ai on a single planet it sounds like red might be going for a turtly strat and building up an insanely large deathball, but again that's a choice and if a unit cap is needed for that to remain playable and fun the whole time then who are we to argue?

    You have no arguement concerning unit cap here, if @reddwolff had been asking for Uber to limit the unit caps for all games, or force a unit cap, that would be a completely different matter. What he asked was the option to forcefully cap the number of possible units, more than likely to preserve game speed & performance over unlimited scale battles

    look say you have 2000 unit cap per person it's not likely you'll ever hit it in a normal game let alone a 1v1 if you're actually playing to win/playing well.

    but again, if it's an option, why would it matter, all you have to do is nothing, don't go turn on the unit cap.

    problem with unit cap...



    2K units/buildings? ok then....you can spam your units as i build nothing but walls and defenses! whats that? your building a Unit cannon? oh well your at the max units!

    How is that a problem? It's not hard to highlight 12 useless units/structures and press delete to use the unit cannon in your little scenario.

    More options, more game play in my book. Even though I would probably never use the unit cap.
