I've done some reading up, but haven't found any definite and/or up-to-date answers yet. My problem is when trying to select objects, single or in groups, it can take any where from 1 to 5 seconds before anything happens. This includes units factories, my commander, etc.

Can anyone give some advice to help me play normally?

What OS are you on? If Linux, I've seen the extra parameter --software-ui help a lot with that.

If Windows, it may just be outdated drivers or something. You can upload a DxDiag.txt to get help with that. Press <Win> + R, type dxdiag and press "Save All Information...". Upload the resulting file here using the Upload a File button on this forum.

Now I know I don't have the greatest specs, but I hope they're not the cause of the problem.

Your drivers are from 2013 and could use an update. That should fix it, although i'm surprised you haven't crashed.

Could you recommend to me the best way to update said drivers? I've never been good at getting it right.

Thank you. I'll try it out, and get back to this thread once it's done and I've tested it.

Alright, updated drivers last night, and I finally was able to testing how it went today. I am sad to report no change. Also, I actually timed the delay this time, and it is actually upwards of a twelve second delay on average. Any other ideas? I really like this game, and would hate to stop playing simply because my computer can't handle it.

Just a thought, could you try running PA directly from the ".exe" rather than from the launcher.

I've had other people with AMD based graphics report strange behaviour of the launcher, causing the game to lag.

The PA installation folder can be found it: "C:\Game\Uber Entertainment\Planetary Annihilation Launcher\Planetary Annihilation\Stable\PA.exe"

If you run PA that way you'll have to log in with your details from the menu inside the game. Try loading PA that way and test out a skirmish. It might make no difference however it's worth trying.

Edit: The above is based on your using the Uber Launcher for PA.

If you are using Steam you can try the same thing however the PA folder will be located in the 'Steam Apps' folder (based on your settings in steam where you tell it to put the games).

Alright, from the one full game I did testing this method, I only got at most a 2 second delay maybe thrice throughout the game. Thanks so much everyone for helping me. I can finally play the game!
