I feel pretty bad about this

Here's an odd(-ish) question: What's the base rating?

I ask because most ranking system's I've seen use 1500 as their starting point. Considering what percentage of people are under that, it suggests that there's either a large loss of points or people are started at a different point (or in a different manner).

That rating number is invisible to us. The X axis you see is player count.

People who don't label their axis go to the special hell.

55 players in one day, that is a lot Is that because of the new steam sale?

I finally played enough games to get ranked, so one of them is me. 4 wins and 1 loss to get gold rank. The tiering system seems like a good idea given the wide skill difference, everyone always has something relatively close to aim for.

my only advice is to do great in ur first 5 matches. i did terrible and it left me in bronze, and now after 80 matches I finally made it to gold. If you do well, you can start out in gold like I could have
