Ok, so recently, I discovered an ultra turtle. this guy built a bot lab, 3 mex, 2 power gen, and a t2 bot factory. Had it done within 5 mins. Now, this was a 2v3, (he was number 3)

and within a tiny margin of time, this guy had an 3 or 4 gil-es. No expansion, just creating t2 eco. At this point, he built tons of t1 factories and destroyed us.

Should this type of elusive and cheap turtling be allowed?

    Note: 2 planets.

I was fighting some other guy,
my friend was fighting some other guy,
he was on my friend's planet.

Why would something be banned just because it works?

was it shared economies, and did he build any defenses, if he didn't build defenses, he's not a turtle.

this isn't turtling, it is using his team's numerical advantage to full effect.

If you let him get that t2 factory, you probably aren't good enough to be engaging in 2v3s

Oi, I was dealing with another guy on another planet. You'd have to ask my friend what happened, and he refuses to make an account on the forums. Idk why.

And not good enough? Ha, its the first of 9 we've lost. So, we're plenty good enough. It was just a stroke of bad luck.

No, not shared, but me and my buddy was. Turtle doesn't mean don't build defenses, turtle means don't expand.

Huh, I always considered turtling to include defenses (turtles have hard shells and sit behind their defenses when threatened, that kinda deal). Guess not.

just to know he build a lot of defenses?

if not, he is not turtiling, he is
    ecowhoring
what is this you may be asking... its just a guy focusing on eco, and only on eco...
so this way he will get a stronger economy.

if you wan't to kill a guy like this, just push on him, while he have eco, he don't have defenses, or units

    so
yes this is a leggit win, if you don't want this to happen another time, just do a 2v2!

P.S. Turtle means make a lot of defenses, and consequently not expanding!

Nah turtling is building up a lot of defenses.

Back in Beta PA had a new strategy develop... Expansive turtling. Expanding; setting up proxy bases, eventually said bases would combine and create huge megabases, impenetrable fortresses.

    It was quite fun. :)

Porcupining? Let's change "turtling" back to that!

As for him winning, you guys just didn't play to the level needed to beat them. If you would have attacked him pretty much at all, that T2 everything he had would've been long lost. Teching up like that with no defenses and minimal army is a risk, it can really pay off, but usually it's a total disaster.

I fail to see anything wrong with it.
If there were no cheats/hacks , bugs etc. used this a 100% legit win.

There is no "right" way to play. . .

So you mean you got beaten in a game, and because you'd won some others you think they must have used some kind of cheap strategy?

No. If you're 2v3 having one person focus eco then T2 is very sensible. You didn't lose because they used a 'cheap' strat, you lost because you didn't scout him and didn't stop him. That's on you. Obviously that's hard in a 2v3 but then... surely that's why you play them?

I'll tell you something that is cheap. Some guy started an ffa, then he changed his eco to 10.0 at the last second and launched the game. There might not be a right way to play, but there certainly is a wrong way.

I'm pretty sure all players automatically un-ready now when someone changes the eco modifier, right?
